If the history of Gamespot hosts is anything to go by, when Mr. Pete Brown will leave the company to follow his own ventures, Mike will become the new editor.

Please, please, Mike, until then, develop an appreciation for story and narrative.

I understand that you like "open world games" & "FPS"s, and that's fine, but narrative heavy games will suffer in review scores and the attention they receive if a pre-written plot merits no appreciation.

Suprised you guys didnt include Albion Online in this. It actually lets players control the economy in an MMO. Elite Dangerous also has player controlled content since there are actually player controlled systems in the game.

No, no, no... a story has characters, narrative a structure. There is a difference between a playthrough and a story. The way you play a game is no excuse for lack of story.

Is there really a game that has truly accomplished this? Even games like Skyrim still require you to complete quests written by someone else. And Battlegrounds doesn't allow for a story because you're constantly being funnelled into one spot until you're dead.

The only game I think that comes close is Minecraft. Because it literally does leave you to your own devices.

@gehwesij: I remember that cartoon, I would watch religiously not because I enjoyed the characters or story but just because it was done with CGI and nothing else was at the time.

@gotrekfabian: after I posted this, I looked into the wiki page a bit more. and it said there's going to be a contenuation coming out next year (2018) called ReBoot: The Guardian Code that's going to be a cross between c.g.i., and live action, and it's wiki page can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReBoot:_The_Guardian_Code
