Netflix's Castlevania Series Teased, It Has Bats My Dudes

And a castle.

A poster for the Netflix series based on Castlevania has been released. It was posted on Facebook by producer Adi Shakar and features pretty much everything you'd expect from Castlevania: a giant gothic castle, a blood red moon, and plenty of bats.

Shankar didn't provide much information on the series other than it "drops 2017 on Netflix." The Castlevania Netflix series is being written by Warren Ellis, who is responsible for multiple acclaimed comic series including Transmetropolitan.

"Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself," an official description reads.

"The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert, and Adi Shankar."

The last major Castlevania title to be released was Lords of Shadow 2, which came out close to three years ago. Koji Igarashi--who reinvented the series with its most acclaimed entry, Symphony of the Night--is developing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a spiritual successor.

A new Castlevania game would be better news but I'd welcome a anime too, as long as they don't do something to **** the animation up, like making the whole thing CGI, etc.

@chiefwiggum16: I doubt we will see a good Castlevania game for awhile......and even if we did I refuse to buy from Konami anymore....

Bloodstained Lineage: Ritual of The Night is gonna be a classic Castlevania style game probably like SOTN so i'd keep an eye on that.....many of the themes and mechanics appear to be similar to Castlevania so yeah......

@darthrevenx: The only way for Konami to be good again is to have a change in CEO, and hope the new one is good.

Because how they deal with gaming right now... ouch. Shipping a tech demo for $30, then shipping an unfinished game for full price (good game, but... unfinished)...

If they actually do good Bomberman games (the Switch game looks nice enough, but let's see if it's a finished game), and use their IPs properly, they might get good again. I hope this happens. They have among the best IPs.

But I will be wary of them until there is a clear change of company culture. EA (they do questionable decisions, but they can do good stuff still) and Activision (Activision took control of the bully that is King, so they have done a good job, people should give them credits for that) look like angels in comparison to Konami.

thought it was going to be a live action and was curious if the plot could ever hope to be good with live action

but now i read anime series which means it could be fantastic

if you wanna watch a vampire anime movie similar to the castlevania theme go watch "Vampire Hunter D 1985" if you liked it or found the animation to be too old you could also watch the remake "Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust 2000" which was so drastically different i had no idea it was a remake until i read it somewhere online

@turkeygod: Actually, if I remember correctly, Bloodlust wasn't a remake, it was a continuation, because it was based on a seperate book. The second or third book if I remember correctly.

@xenoriddley: i read somewhere that it was a retelling of the same story from a different perspective

i just looked it up again to make sure and sure enough your right first movie was based on first book and second was based on third book

iv also just learned there will be a CGI anime series "vampire hunter d:resurrection" it was announced in june 2015 as of june 2016 it is still in pre-production it will be hour long segments and will use fresh content not used in movies there is a possibility of up to 7 seasons basically everything you'd ever want in a anime like this>/ now i have another thing to look forward too with castlevania anime
