Ok so first off Dalaran is just a massive city with no outside influence . Pre-wrath is was nestled between Alterac Mountains and Hillsbrad Foothills in the ground . So therefore this would be Dalaran , Remember main tower to the purple parlor was the highest tower in Dalaran . Which if you flew up to it you would be in the sky basically.

Next is Redridge Mountains . No doubt . Since Medivh conspired with Gul'dan to open the Dark Portal some of the orcs split up clans going north and some south . North being Redridge Mountains passing through Blackrock Pass in Burning Steppes . South being Stranglethorn Vale and further Westfall ( Passing through Duskwood ) .

The fight sequence between the orcs and humans looks to be Stranglethorn Vale since it looks too much like a jungle than just woods and Orcs are drawing closer to Westfall . Remember Humans didn't want Orcs near them so they would of pushed them back into Stranglethorn Vale which is where they made the camp Grom'Gol .

So now we see felfire in the sky with huge land thats deserted with a tower to the right , Hellfire Peninsula (Burning Crusade Trailer Reference ) . Tree's being blown away could be the other side of the Dark Portal which is in Black Morass ( Blastedlands/Swamp of Sorrows) .

Now we have Orcs here at the south end of Westfall . Deadmines would of been located southeast of where the Orcs are at in this scene since they are just coming out of Stranglethorn Vale or East of them if they went around to westfall by swimming along the shore .

After baby Thrall we see huge camp sites and then the Dark Portal Blasted lands , Now we see Doomhammer , only to be overlooking Stranglethorn camp site Grom'Gol .

This next scene is odd because since the Cataclysm most of this is gone so there is no real reference to go by. Since there is red rocks , I'll say this looks to be the dam that was next to Stonewatch in Redridge imo . Thousand Needles even before the Cataclysm had hardly any vegetation and looked like Arizona .

Now we have Garona and Lothar meeting Durotan in Blackrock Pass .

Strange seeing Dalaran floating in the sky unless they felt that this war would be a on-going conflict so the Mages of Dalaran lifted the city up to keep themselves out of the conflict . Later when they felt that the city wasn't going to be attacked they dropped back down and put a force-field around them to keep outside influence out . imo .

Garona and Lothar worked together for common interests . Spoiler: Garona and Medivh had/has an Affair . However how much of the lore they plan on putting this movie is questionable.

End trailer of Stormwind Castle which shows High Elves , Dwarfs and this Mage standing off to the side which might actually be Archmage Antonidas . In the trailer you see Lothar up top of a tower in the sky .....The Council of Six resides up there which 1 of them is Antonidas . imo , I could be wrong .

King Llane and his wife Taria . 3 children could be Varian , Tiffin ( Varians wife which was arranged since birth ) and some unknown child behind them which could be some orphan ( Depending if it's Childrens Week ) lol .

I could be wrong about some of this , we'll have to see when more trailers are release in the future or when the movie comes out . However this seems to be a great beginning of the Lore . For the CGI they used ILM but they didn't want it to be too realistic . This is supposed to be a fantasy movie so trying to get everything realistic isn't the driving force .

Fans of the game want to be watching the movie while going , Omg so that's what Karazhan would look like in real life. Perfect mix of live action and CGI . Compare it to Lord of the Rings well Warcraft has more Lore than the bible so this could be the greatest movie series since LotR and Harry Potter.

Spoiler Alert if you don't want to know , Don't read. ok I warned you .

This is not the last scene. The last scene would be watching Garona assassinating King Llane . In WoD she tries to do the same to Archmage Khadgar which becomes a follower after Khadgar finds out where Gul'dan is hiding and what he has planned .

The part of the trailer at the start with the questionable bridge/dam, is indeed Redridge Mountains like the guy suggested. (at least it looks like that and its proximity makes sense) Think about the blackrock clan in redridge mountains and then searing gorge and burning steppes. Especially blackrock mountain itself with the other warchief Rend Blackhand. All of these areas are right by redridge mountains, and a direct path northward to alterac from the blasted lands. I dont know if things have changed since cataclysm, but it was this way in vanilla wow, and I remember getting the vibe that these guys were among the first to come through the portal. So.. redridge would make perfect sense.

Also, that castle towards the end up on the cliff with the bridge and waterfall that gets destroyed,...Well I believe that is also in redridge mountains. There are many quests (at least in vanilla) that talk about the blackrock orcs and Im even pretty sure you need to go to that castle high up on the east side of the map and fight the blackrock dudes. It used to be a human castle I believe but is now abandoned (probably because it was blown up as we saw in the trailer). Another reason I think it is redridge is because if you were to look at the still frame in the trailer and look at the castle in the game at this moment, they look almost exactly the same. The surrounding landscape and geography and position of the waterfall all point to it being redridge.

Also...one thing that bothered me was the fact that they said dalarn was the flying island. I do agree that it looks like dalaran, and what other place on azeroth is floating? And when you briefly see its silhouette against the sunny sky , the towers look like dalarn. However...I'm pretty sure in WC3 and in vannila wow Pre-Lichking, (and even in the lore of warcraft), the city is not a flying city, its on the ground in hillsbread foothills, right by alterac. So, with that in mind, maybe the first city scene in the trailer that looks very close to dalaran, is indeed dalaran snuggled against the hillsbread foothill mountains, right? Or....maybe that city is lordaeron, because the architecture of lordaeron is different than Stormwind, almost more closer to that of dalaran. lordaeron is also very close to alterac mountains and dalaran. Alterac valley is home to the new location of the frostwolf clan I believe, whom I think played a big part on the defense of azeroth against the burning legion and the "bad" orcs. Im not really 100% sure though, I'm not a lore expert by any means, but I couldn't help but notice these things. Cool stuff tho. I do agree with the person in the comments above, I like warcraft, but something about the trailer seems off or is missing something..

Arathi Highlands at 10:00 mark (with the dam) ? That last section with the dark portal, its probably a base. Maybe they're sneaking in RTS elements lol. Perhaps you'll see some sleeping peons?

Although not a Warcraft player I was looking forward to this film purely for the themes that resonate with me (epic Fantasy etc.). I am, however, a bit worried about the quality of the acting in this trailer...

The Dark Portal is in the Blasted Lands, not Badlands. Badlands is where Uldaman is.

Are a lot of gamers really excited about this movie? I was surprised they would do a 17 minute break down of a movie trailer.

Oh, i just read that Eu (wich isnt all of europe, not even all of western europe) had an annual revenue of 18,5 Trillion 2014 and the Us had 17,5 Trillion. Well, as the Us always goes on about their "allies", wixh are pretty much the Eu, perhaps its more proper to call Usa Eu´s ally, in that order. I think you will be ok litle brother Usa. The wolrds most powerful economy will protect you ^^

You missed two very important Orcs that are in the trailer, Ner'zhul the shaman that will become the Lich King later united with Arthas.

And come on mates, Grom Hellscream shows up twice in the trailer, and you didn't even mention or notice him either. ;)

@Damazig: Finally someone else spotted Ner'zhul!

I'm curious though where do you see Grom? I think that long haired and bearded orc who says "You side with the humans against your own kind" is Blackhand.

@Kishobran: Yeah that's the one, I think that might be Grom, eventhough it doesn't look exacly like him, it looks a lot less like Blackhand or any of the other major Warlords, and there can still be a black tattoo under all that beard :P, but you may be right!

True that Grom doesn't go to Azeroth during the first invasion in the original story, but then again, Thrall isn't left in the river "nile" like Moses either during the first war, and Lothar is supposed to be a bald with a little of white hair old guy, not a young "Ragnar Lothbrok".

Also you see Durotan fighting Guldan, but in the original story it's supposed to be Durotan fighting Blackhand who is already under the influence of the legion, yet if you notice, that black bearded Orc is on Azeroth, and he is still not green yet.

Speculations and opinions, they are staying true to the story but also doing things differently and I do hope you are right as I would really prefer seeing Grom with the big black tatto chin, staying behind on Dreanor with Ner'zhul for the second movie.

@Damazig: Yeah they made some changes to streamline the story. My main reasoning is that Grom's role is not officially confirmed, as he becomes more important in the sequel, whereas Blackhand is important only now and he's confirmed as one of the major characters.

Another reason is that it wouldn't make much sense to alter Grom's appearance now after they put so much effort in his model in WoD. He already has an iconic, detailed look that's still fresh in people's minds and I see no reason why they shouldn't use it. Whereas we haven't seen exactly how pre - Iron Horde Blackhand looked before the use of 'future' technology which Garrosh brought. The way he is in WoD is not how he always looked, so they are free to develop a new appearance for him.

@Kishobran: You are right it is blackhand, I've just seen a photo of that character, a collectible "toy" and it has a huge hammer and a huge black tatto on his hand. Good one mate!

heh would be interesting if they made it a TV show instead of a movie, something big profile / big budget like Game of Thrones, where a season would cover 1 game/expansion.
Thou i guess they will do the same with movies if this one gets good reception (lots of profits).

@noirtenshin: i feel this WoW movie will be the so called "ice breaker". if it's a hit, i will not be surprised they expand the brand to tv shows and what not. but i think The Witcher would probably do better if it was made into a tv show like Game of Thrones. i just feel WoW is too fantasy for the general demographic to get any appeal. the lack of fantasy tv shows, on both broadcast networks and cable tv is a big hint. the only thing that comes close to fantasy is Game of Thrones but it's not too fantasy. it has the medieval setting along with a slight touch of fantasy. something The Witcher can relate to.

@hypnotika25: Agreed. Game of Thrones succeeded despite of being a fantasy, not because of it. Majority of people watch it because of the characters, the politics, scheming, drama, unpredictability, not because of the mythical elements.

However Witcher has a lot of fantasy elements and too few characters. So Geralt would need to be extremely interesting to carry the show as witchers spend a lot of time on path, traveling alone. He'd maybe have 1 or 2 companions occasionally, but that's it.

Don't break it down too hard. Based on the trailer, it seems to be a mixbag of compositing quality hot mess.

Looks good to me. Though should never forget: video game movie. Caution is advised, set your expectations on the low and if it's good, you shall feel that pleasant feeling of positive surprise. ;)

Also, seems like the movie retains one of my favorite aspects of Warcraft: Alliance being total douchewads towards the "evil" races.

They are staying true to the source material, that is a good sign. I really hope this movie does well so more fantasy movies are made.
