Coming from GungHo Online Entertainment, Volta-X is an upcoming strategy RPG for the Nintendo Switch that pits giant robots against massive monsters in epic battles across the globe. Taking cues from other tactical strategy games like XCOM and FTL: Faster Than Light, Volta-X puts you in command of a heroic squad of pilots and engineers who embark on different missions in their massive, highly-customizable mechs. In comparison to the high-stakes and steep losses of XCOM, Volta-X is much lighter in tone, focusing more on the excitement of commanding a squad of dynamic characters that feels inspired by Power Rangers and classic mecha anime shows.
In this exclusive gameplay trailer for GameSpot's Play For All, we see a more in-depth look at Volta-X's base-management and strategic mech battle gameplay. In a similar vein to other tactical role-playing games, players will build up their arsenal of Voltas to take on missions across the globe. With every successful mission, you'll gain more resources to improve your squad, allowing you to customize your giant robots further and expand your base of operations. In addition to facing off against invading Kaiju, you'll also face off against rival groups with wielding their own mechs. Set for release this year on Nintendo Switch, Volta-X is shaping up to a charming and accessible take on the familiar set-up of the tactical strategy RPG.
