Supergiant Games is making a splash on Nintendo Switch by bringing both of its past hits Bastion and Transistor to the console. Switch owners who missed Transistor should know that it was one of 2014's best games and it's coming to the platform on November 1, 2018 as well. It's an isometric action RPG with some strategy elements. Throughout the campaign, you unlock a multitude of abilities to tinker with to create your own roster of unique attacks. And of course, in true Supergiant fashion, the art direction and soundtrack are beautifully crafted.
You play as Red, a famous singer in the city of Cloudbank. A devious organization called the Camerata have taken control and devastated the entire city by controlling AI robots known as The Process. Red's weapon, the Transistor, is embedded with the consciousness of a man who was murder by it and acts as her guide throughout the game (voiced by Logan Cunningham). Coming off Bastion, artist Jen Zee took the spirit of her previous work and put a remarkable sci-fi twist on it. Since the character Red is a musician herself, Transistor's soundtrack plays a larger role in the narrative--composer Darren Korb incorporated elements of electronica and post-rock for the soundtrack and worked alongside vocalist Ashley Barrett.
