September is jam-packed with games, and New Releases is taking a wide look at the month overall. This episode is going international, with Dragon Quest XI getting a worldwide release after launching in Japan last year and FIFA 19 bringing more action to football fans around the world. Meanwhile, Shadow of the Tomb Raider sends Lara Croft down to South America, and Life Is Strange 2 sees a pair of brothers journeying to Mexico. Finally, Marvel's Spider-Man is here to represent the USA.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age -- September 4

This month, Dragon Quest 11 is bringing its traditional RPG journey to territories outside Japan (though the future Nintendo Switch release date is yet to be announced). It features the standard turn-based gameplay of its predecessors, but unlike most of the those games, you initiate battles by colliding with enemies in the overworld--no random encounters here. Still, you're going to want to train your party if you hope to defeat the impending darkness overtaking the world.

Marvel's Spider-Man -- September 7

The team behind Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive is taking a swing at Marvel's friendly neighborhood hero. This is an original story featuring classic characters and villains, where you'll play as both Spidey and everyday Peter Parker. There are even sections where you'll take control of Mary Jane, whose journalism skills will be invaluable in saving New York.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider -- September 14

Forget the typical "dark middle chapter"--this third game is going to make Lara face some serious consequences for her actions as she races against Trinity to stop a Mayan apocalypse. As far as gameplay, you can look forward to improved swimming controls, stealthier combat, and a whole bunch of tombs to raid.

Life Is Strange 2 - Episode 1 -- September 27

Life Is Strange 2 stars brothers Sean and Daniel Diaz, on the run after witnessing what seems to be the supernatural death of a cop. On their journey home to Puerto Lobos, Mexico, you'll have to make choices that greatly affect the outcome of the game. Previous actions from prequel The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will have consequences here too.

FIFA 19 -- September 28

This year's FIFA outing brings three big gameplay changes to the field: new controls for better contact on shots, a 50/50 system for determining battles over the ball, and the ability to switch up strategies mid-game. It's also the first in series history to feature the Europa League.
