Top New Games Out On Switch, PS4, Xbox One, And PC This Month -- May 2019

Survive the post-apocalypse in Rage 2 or get spooky with the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Nintendo Switch ports of the Resident Evil series.

Spring is in the air and May is almost here. Though it's bright and sunny out, the slate of video games is getting dark and spooky with the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Nintendo Switch ports of Resident Evil 1, 4, and 0. You can also conquer China in Total War: Three Kingdoms or explore a post-apocalyptic world of Rage 2. There's also a cheerier game for the whole family to enjoy: Team Sonic Racing.

Rage 2 -- May 14

Available on: PS4, Xbox One, PC

No Caption Provided

The world of Rage 2 is overrun with mutants and ruled by a group known as the authority. As Walker, you can lay waste to both of these factions with guns and powerful Nanotrite abilities. You can also drive any vehicle you see in the open world, opening up plenty of roadkill opportunities.

Castlevania Anniversary Collection -- May 16

Available on: PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch

No Caption Provided

The Castlevania Anniversary Collection is loaded: the $20 bundle includes Castlevania, Simon's Quest, Dracula's Curse, Super Castlevania IV, The Adventure, Belmont's Revenge, Bloodlines, and Kid Dracula--and this is the first time Kid Dracula has come to the West. The collection also includes an ebook full of artwork from all eight games.

Resident Evil 1/4/0 -- May 21

Available on: Switch

No Caption Provided

Nintendo Switch is getting a batch of games this month too, but these three Resident Evil titles are all sold separately. The original game stars Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in the Spencer Mansion, 0 is a prequel featuring Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen in an abandoned facility, and 4 sees Leon Kennedy searching for the president's daughter in Spain.

Team Sonic Racing -- May 21

Available on: PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch

No Caption Provided

As the name implies, Team Sonic Racing is about winning together--but not always by coming in first place. Other game modes challenge you to collect rings or get the fastest lap time. You can customize every character's kart to your liking too.

Total War: Three Kingdoms -- May 23

Available on: PC

No Caption Provided

The long-running strategy series is headed to China for the first time, where 12 different factions can battle for control. Victory is achieved by capturing a city or by slaying the opposing army's generals. It's not that simple, though, as the generals you choose create certain limitations for the types of troops you command during battle.

More Coverage:

These are some of May's biggest games, but the new month has even more to check out. Next week, New Releases will check out the third episode of Life Is Strange 2 and the PC port of Yakuza Kiwami 2.

Meh, pretty boring month. I'll try out Rage 2 if reviews are good, but if that's the one that's most appealing, I guess its going to be a pretty dull month for gaming.

Hmm, I'm KINDA surprised that most, if not all, of these games are single-player. But I'm also kinda glad. :)

Switch 'AAA' game release = something ludicrously priced.

@afromakka: This show generally sticks to 5 games per episode (with exceptions, like how the three Resident Evil games are lumped together here), but Plague will be included in a future episode when the release date is closer.

@tonywilson: i hate the fact that top games are becoming " for journalism specially GS and IGN " remasters and remakes and sequels , new IP's are getting no love at all and you guys are supposed to show those new IP's to casual gamers who wouldnt otherwise stumble upon games like Plague and many more like it

@afromakka:

when "plague : tale of innocence " is released and is awful like most of the Asobo Studio games and your dumb ass decided to mention it in this comment, it will show you much of an idiot you are.

@afromakka: Ignore that guy Focus Home Interactive has slowly been putting out better budget games imo. Vampyr is probably one of their most successful games in recent years but I'm pretty hyped for this, Greedfall and Werewolf the apocalypse.
