this game has been in development for so long that at one point bathesda likely assumed it would also find its way to the ps3/360. due to the astonishing sales of the ps4, they figured they should focus on next gen platforms only. this has me to believe that the game looks as underwhelming as it does, from a visual standpoint, due to this original intention of being ported onto the older consoles which impacted their aspirations regarding the graphics engine. now we are left with a current gen game that doesn't look nearly as good as it should. for all we know the gameplay will be great and live up to the other games in the series, but the first trailer didn't exactly leave much of a first impression when visuals is all you have to go on.
@Xristophoros: But it doesn't look underwhelming. That's the thing.
@The-Neon-Seal: it looks worse than Skyrim somehow, and the animations are atrocious. Let's leave our rose-tinted glasses at home people.
If I didn't know any better I would have thought this was a nodded version of New Vegas instead. Definitely not current gen at all.
@The-Neon-Seal: save your panties till the gameplay reveal folks... ;)
@Metallicwolf29: I agree with you. But I think it's strange to post it here, this was actually a decent video, IMO.
I'm with you though, I'd take the GS of 10 years ago over this one any day. It's easy to say "well go away then", but that's the problem, there really isn't a decent gaming site that doesn't turn into a clusterf*** mess. IGN is certainly no better.
@Metallicwolf29: Ok. bye.
@Metallicwolf29: I don't blame you, I am of the same feeling right now too and am on the tipping point of leaving the site to find something anew. GS has gone downhill, it has lost it's sense of humour, I don't like the new comments section, the video player is terrible (and has been for a good while now) and the sense of community has long gone from the site; after checking the news of the day the forums were the place to go to find like minded gamers or chat to friends, you could read peoples blogs but no-one wants to put them up on site anymore it seems.
@gotrekfabian: Yeap, the site has certainly degraded in quality. It used to be my favorite site for many years (since 2004), but now I am just checking it once a day just by habit. It's a shame really.
I have been following this site for over a decade and it has become complete garbage as of late.
I stayed loyal despite you cancelling feedbackula but censoring and removing the likes from the comments is the last straw.
Goodbye gamespot. You were the chosen one.
Good riddance, bye :D o/

good vid danny, informative speculation.
I heard Bill Burr is a voice actor in this. Some kid told me.
OMG all this hype for that single Video that really does not show anything different from what we already know about the fallout world?
Video show Vaults (omg thats new), a dog, a blacktalon (omg so new too).
Plz, stop the hype, and maybe they will lower the pre-sale value on Steam.
@julianboxe: wait that was a talon company guy i thought that was a ncr guy.. well i hope riding a vertibird is possible in this one and also some other vehicles...
@julianboxe: Clearly not a Bethesda fan. I doubt you've been gaming that long either as the hype for Skyrim, off a trailer that showed even less, was spectacular, and rightly so. All other games are filler between TES and FO.
@The-Neon-Seal: well bethesda should stick with shooting games anyway.. i really bought into the skyrim hype and i didnt understand what the hype was.. the combat system sucked as well the dragon riding... whenever i fought draugrs or bandita with the sword it felt like an amateur even though i had a high level and my one handed skill was 90.the two handed skill was pretty bad any high leveled enemy can kill me if i was only using two handed weapons as there is no chance of blocking the attack. i just didnt underatand what was the freaking use of the two handed weapons anyways also i felt the views were meh the missions felt too long and unnecessarily long i liked yhe tree skills style... some skills lile alteratiom amd illuson and alchemy felt useless so didnt even levelled those blacksmithing was interesting a bit but soon bored me... the horse riding was well on par with other games lile ac and unble to personally use boats also even when doing many missions the reputation among people was the same. And most thing i hated couldnt kill maven blackbriar...and yeah stupid idiotic loading screens oooh i hated those so much...and yeah i alnost forgot cant kill miraak
@dranwarren: I guess you've never played Morrowind of Oblivion then. That was what the hype was all about, and Bethesda's fantasy series is what made them. The combat was exactly the same as in Oblivion, and if you were into RPG's you'd understand the point in every skill. In fact, Skyrim didn't have enough skills to level.
@The-Neon-Seal: Oh I just hate overhype for everything. Gamespot misses a lot of reviews but has the mansource for this kind of high especulation and hype videos...
As for my "gaming" time, lets say I come from old RPGs like Ultima VIII Pagan and Baldur's Gate.
Not the oldest one around but pretty old.
I think last time I commented was when gamespot gave a low score to Last of us. I been hanging out more on IGN .
I was really impressed with this video and Danny presentation.. Good job. I will come back more to Gamespot due to this. (PS still mad at gamespot First review of last of us and the way they handled the backlash)
Another great episode of The Point! I can't wait to explore the wasteland once more, and the graphics looks more than good enough for me. Content -> Graphics.
Awesome episode Danny! :D
I think they should delay the game to improve the graphics...mainly the character models and some of the low resolution environment textures that they have shown us so far. I know everyone gets their panties twisted when someone mentions graphics being important but to me they are, and a game shouldn't look on par with it's predecessor that came out almost 8 years earlier. This is especially true when they said the game won't run on PS3 and X360...they need to take advantage of newer tech, the only excuse for this is being cheap.
@Psycold: Each to their own but frankly I'd rather they take away some of the graphics and release it earlier than delay it to make it look prettier.
@Psycold: if you think the visuals that they showed in the trailer are on par with the previous installment then you really need a pair of glasses, good ones too.
@Zeeksie: It's barely any better. They improved the animations and the lighting, and added a few new things like Danny mentions such as weather, but it's 2015, and if you think this game looks up to the standards of a 2015 game, then I'm not the blind one here.
@Psycold: Rofl. I'm playing through NV again at the moment, and the graphics in the trailer for FO4 are leaps and bounds beyond its predecessor. Hell, they're a lot better than Skyrim!
@Psycold: Barely? I dare you to go play Fallout 3 for at least half an hour and watch the damn trailer again.
Secondly, the trailer doesn't even show any in game animations, they're all scripted here. But considering Bethesda's previous work, their animations always sucked, so I'm not hoping for much.
And lastly, there's no such thing as "standard" for games like these. I dare you to find a current gen game of the Skyrim size or bigger that had visuals as good as the stuff you've seen in FO4's trailer.
I'm not worried about the visuals, I worry that Bethesda will once again release a glitchfest because their testers are a bunch of unwashed monkeys.
@Zeeksie: gta 5
Great episode, Danny -- You are right about everything, and to be honest here. The leaker who claimed to worked at bethesda. Seems to be right.
@kereke12: Just one thing that the leaker got wrong (I wish I hadn't shunned it now!): no Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Then again Bethesda may be holding out on us but why would they hold out on that?
I bet Fenway park still smells like piss.
I need me some evolved form of VATS combat.
I understand graphics is not that important but does it really has to look like crap in 2015?
@VIP-Jerry: Go play Fallout 3, that looks like crap. When you've played that game for at least 20 hours, look at the trailer again. You'll see a major graphical improvement that fans of the Fallout series will be very happy about. Fallout 4 doesn't look like crap at all. Sure, it may not be the best looking game ever, but why is that necessary?
@Wiro_: Fallout 3 is also crap. Fallout 2 was perfect.
Skyrim vanilla wasn't a texture feast either, but the wholeness made the game look incredible still. I spent probably 300 hours in said game before I installed any texture mods of importance. I think from what little we have seen Fallout 4 looks great.
So what if some small brained individuals end up not playing Fallout 4 because of the graphics? I'll be buying it day one. Back to the witcher 3 now.
Thanks Danny, great episode. Looking forward to Fallout 4.
Another brilliant episode Danneh. I really hope they start introducing some native american aspects into this game. Would love to take on a deathclaw with a tomahawk.
@CelticSentinel: Fallout New Vegas - Honest Hearts. Enjoy Tomahawks, War Clubs and other native american wonders ;)

Hopefully this will save 2015 along with GTA V on PC.
+ good work Danny & crew
