The Highs And Lows Of Blizzcon 2018

At BlizzCon 2018, Michael and Alessandro reflect on their favorite moments from the show, what they're looking forward to, and what was missing from Blizzard's biggest party of the year.

BlizzCon 2018 experienced plenty of highs and lows as Blizzard made new announcements for Overwatch, StarCraft 2, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone, as well as its Diablo and Warcraft franchises. In the video above, Michael Higham and Alessandro Fillari discuss their impressions of the convention and Blizzard's reveals.

Overwatch dominated BlizzCon 2018 with plenty of announcements. A new animated short starring McGree was released that also introduced two new characters, Ashe and Echo, to Overwatch lore. Ashe, an outlaw and the leader of the Deadlock gang, is Overwatch's 29th playable character. Ashe's abilities look like they can shake up the existing rhythms of Overwatch's gameplay with her Ultimate, B.O.B., who acts as a turret that can wreck opposing teams. Blizzard also revealed Overwatch-themed cereal called Lucio-Ohs, as well as Overwatch Lego sets, statues, and toys.

The other two franchises at the forefront of BlizzCon 2018 were Warcraft and Diablo. Like Overwatch, World of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth got a new animated cinematic. WoW Classic, an HD remake of the original World of Warcraft, was also given a release window of Summer 2019. One of the bigger surprises was the reveal of Warcraft III: Reforged, a remaster of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. For Diablo, Blizzard revealed a totally new mobile game for the franchise called Diablo Immortal. The new mobile title left Alessandro impressed, but with many questions.
