I gave up on this one about the time XIII or XIII-2 came out. I came back around when it started to look its own thing, about the time they moved it to the 8th gen and into the main series. Gonna buy a XONE/PS4 for this one for sure, since FFX a FF game wasn't a good enough reason to buy a new console (unfortunately X was a huge letdown for me).
I forgot about "Dragoonette" *searches for name*, Arenea HIGHWIND, how could I have forgotten that!? They just need to sort out that bloody mask of hers, it doesn't look right in any of the picturesI'veseen(<-- three images)!
So we have the aforementioned Arenea, Gentiana (not your average attendant, apparently), Cindy (too sexy for this game, apparently) and of course Luna (wonder what she would say about this paint job)!
Shame Stella got dropped from the game, although looks like she did manage to ride out most of the journey, given images from 2013!
Plugging a parody trailer I made (Batman Begins: Final Fantasy XV), at somepoint, I need to get round to doing another two, to complete the Nolan Trilogy, plan is to have at least one of them out before Final Fantasy XV is released!
@NiteX: Not quite what I was trying to say. What I meant was that it is apparent that he doesn't like FF but to say that it sucks just because he doesn't like it is a completely stupid remark. FF has proved it's worth and sold myriad copies of each of its games due to quality. If I don't like something I don't say never be things about it and unless it is warranted.
@Tanares: True, but I'm betting that FFXV's development troubles were nothing compared to DNF, and not all the stuff was torn out. I'm hoping that, during all this time, the tech team kept tweaking and bug fixing and making a fantastic engine that the content creators used to make a great game.
@amdreallyfast: I agree but let's be honest, we're looking at closer to 6 or 7 years of refinement here. They pretty much chose to start over when they realized they weren't going to make the PS3 release window.
@djwood84: Your post got me thinking, and I found this (very) recent interview with Hajime Tabata on FF XV's development. He believes that much of the Japanese game market hasn't fared well in the realm of HD gaming because there were established expectations on how things ought to be done, and these weren't cutting it but people still weren't changing. He also recognized that there big perceptions that the FF IP was in a real bad state when he was put in charge of the dev team. Long story short, this is a good read, and I hope that they will pull off what they are trying to.
@djwood84: My understanding was that there was soem kind of dev team change when it was officially changed to a main series item (as opposed to part of the XIII conclave) and it was decided to be produced for post-PS3 consoles, and that at this time they kept many of the game elements that were already there. Not all, but many.
The demo was cool. Especially liked the music, my fav being the one that plays when you are shrunk. Combat was good. You can mix up with jump attacks and other weapons by pressing the directional buttons. Love the art in the game also. Iron giant looks insane and the sound effects were cool.
@sirdukefillion: I went to a university and got a bachelors in Chemistry, worked as a lab tech, got a bachelors in Computer Science, then started a career as a software engineer over the course of its development :)
Man, I was 20 when I first saw this trailer at E3, i was SO psyched for it. I'll be 31 when it's released. Sheesh.
But my hype has kinda been killed. Those early trailers looked so dark and mysterious and hyper-real... Noctis on those Cathedral steps, at that party with Stella (r.i.p stella, axed from the game)
And now, we've got... a dudebro road trip, God-of-War slashy mechanics and... cheesy anime tie-ins.
@tom_cat_01: it was always going to be an action-based RPG, that was one of the main reasons it wasn't it's own number, it was part of XIII saga. The action RPG style was what was so amazing. I was 16. My hyped died after 3 maybe 4 years.
The driving direction changed. Before the Uncovered event, up until 2015, they were driving in the left lane with wheel on the right. Now it seems they changed it both in-game and in the anime and movie. They now drive on the right with wheel on the left. Yeah, sharp observation.
@Arguyle: I was hoping it would fail like Dude Nukem Forever to serve as a lesson and punishment. Maybe I'll just get Dark Souls 3, it's the same torture as waiting for this game to come out.
@xXRoxtenXx: Wow that's a bit harsh. I guess by that logic you hoped Overwatch would fail too. They were both announced around the same time then went into limbo then years later the companies announced they are re-branding the games and scrapping what they have so far but keeping some of the assets and characters from the original version. Only difference is Overwatch completely changed genres and ff15 is still very close to the original concept. But both very similar weird development cycles.
@gotrekfabian: That's certainly happened in the past but FF:15 has updated it's mechanics and graphics over time. They even put out that demo with Type-O HD just to see what people thought of it it and changed the combat because of the reaction. I haven't played the new demo so I can't say how that changed exactly or if the end product will still feel stuck in the past but I think there's enough reason to be optimistic.
@sirdukefillion: I wasn't agreeing with him per sé, merely pointing out his argument. Gameplay has been overhauled but it doesn't really feel like a next gen title to me. The combat feels too simplistic for my liking and the areas we have seen so far are just not open enough. It's only betas/demos we have seen having said that and I am still champing at the bit to play it.
@gotrekfabian: I have a feeling at the very least it'll be better than the last 3 FF games (not counting the MMO which I haven't played). It's definitely not uncommon for combat and areas to get more interesting over time in an RPG so we'll just have to wait and see. Honestly after all this time I might be more interested in just seeing how it turned out overhaul than actually getting my hands on it and that's from a big RPG fan.
@sirdukefillion: I enjoyed X and XII as it goes despite their shortcomings. I can't say that I have touched the MMOs though, FF was always about the characters and the story for me and the MMOs don't seem to have much of that. Whatever happens I'm sure I will enjoy this. I'm itching to see a few more summons BTW!
