If all we have is this rubbish story mode, can we at least adjust the difficulty? The AI is just plain retarded

Well that was rubbish. I'd have taken an actual arcade mode over this. Also why are the character models so bulky? No person looks as overly muscley as the male fighters do, it just looks daft.

Well, the good thing is after you beat story mode, you can delete it and save 8gigs of space. There is absolutely no reason to play it again.

Well, wasn't able to easily delete story mode without deleting the entire game. Guess it stays, for now.

I found it to be rather enjoyable even if it seemed to stay very much on the safe side. Some missed opportunities to explore some of the decisions some characters made. They could come back to them later though. One character seemed to go nearly completely to waste. Won't say much more as I don't want to spoil. I didn't expect too much from Street Fighter's first attempt at this and this was slightly above expectations.

@Wolfkcing: I felt the same. Still not great. I'd still take a campaign or quest mode over a story mode. But, as fighting game story modes go, SFV's was pretty good, especially for a first attempt.

@Jag-T1000: Arcade mode is still coming... hopefully !! You're right though... should have released Arcade mode first... than story mode.

@ohjtbehaaave: I would take a story mode and good challenge mode over an arcade mode any day. We have the story mode. Too bad the challenge mode is overly simplistic.

I've said this many times, but I don't know why arcade modes are even still around. Arcades themselves aren't.

@IceJester45: The thing is SF games have always had the arcade mode and it's a favorite for those who like single player modes. For Capcom to not include it on day 1 is what hurt the games sales.

@ohjtbehaaave: I'm sure it did hurt sales. I just don't know why it's still (apparently) so popular -- popular enough that a potential customer would not buy the game because of the mode's omission. But, people like what they like.

@IceJester45 sorry about that the game is a failure on every level. the game is not selling at all. it has sold less than 2 million copies altogether this is a sony's fault as much as it is capcraps fault. the limited audience that it does have doesn't even like the game. it's bound to one console in which i think killed any chance it had at even selling well in the firsp place and the game is incomplete as whole.

@blackamerica: I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

My position is that Street Fighter V is excellent as a game and somewhat lacking as a product.

@IceJester45: the game is a failure and is not and will not sell as they have screwed the pooch with gamers on systems. one of which the game is never going to come to and the other system with players they are going to wait years to even have a full game without bad performance.

@blackamerica: It missed projections, sure. But, I'd argue Capcom's projections were unreasonable to begin with and the game still managed to sell more than a million copies. For a fighting game, that's pretty good. Besides, it seems like Capcom and Sony plan to make their money off of microtransactions -- like MOBA makers do -- and that may very well work out in the long run.

The game itself, though, is very good. The fighting game community has already embraced it. SFV has broken Evo registration records and will likely break viewership records this year (and that's before you factor in live coverage on ESPN 2). Further, SFV is the most-played fighting game on Steam (as of this morning). I'd hardly call that a complete failure.

I don't think SFV needs to go to Xbox One to be successful for Capcom, especially given that Sony (probably) paid for some of the development and/or marketing costs. I mean, is Killer Instinct a failure because it's console-exclusive to Xbox One?

@IceJester45: i don't selling over a million copies is selling well when your installment base is much larger. that tells me the game was not ready to be released or the game is just not that good as a whole. never the less i not a huge street fighter fan but the game does hold a certain amount of respect in my book. with that said i think that KI is a better game over than street fighter could ever be at this point or ever. i might not need to go the X1 your right however the sales numbers don't suggest the same at this point.

@blackamerica: 1.4 million is not great, but given how badly fighting games usually sell -- with the exception of NRS titles and vanilla SFIV -- it's not exactly a failure, either.

I like KI a lot more than I thought I would, and I think KI is probably a better package now overall. However, SFV wins on gameplay. Of course, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator is, by far, the best fighting game so far this gen.

@IceJester45: I think it comes down to what gamers were accustomed to with SF games. There are many who just like single player stuff in SF... and when the SFV game released as bare bones as it did, it really upset many SF fans. Capcom put almost all it's eggs in the Online/multiplayer basket and totally ignored single player. But like with past SF games it's an ongoing thing where Capcom adds things, fixes things and makes the game better as time goes on. Eventually the arcade mode will come and SF players who prefer the single player stuff will finally be happy.

@ohjtbehaaave: What I really want is a quest mode like the ones Virtua Fighter 4 and 5 have or a Street Fighter Alpha 3-style world tour mode. Those modes had tons of replayability thanks to their item unlocks and progressions systems. I have a feeling Capcom will never give us anything like that, though.

But, I play multiplayer and training mostly in any fighting game. Arcade mode I can take or leave. I respect that some people like it, I just don't understand why they do now that we have lengthier, more immersive single-player modes.

The computer-controlled opponents are complete push-overs. It's like there's something wrong with their decision-making scripts.

EDIT: Apparently, not all of them have problems with their scripts. Some appear to be working. It's rather inconsistent though.

I wonder if the sheep model is included as a visual asset in the game package.

I can already imagine a mod where the animation bones of certain characters are applied to the sheep's model. That would be silly.

Wait... the politically correct people haven't started a shitstorm yet about Balrog wearing a chain around his neck being racist?! Apparently it's not as bad as Cammy's buttocks.

I thought the story mode was pretty good -- just shy of Injustice in terms of quality, but ahead of both of the newer Mortal Kombat games and Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe. One thing I liked was that it didn't take itself too seriously like the NRS stories sometimes do. Street Fighter V's story mode seemed to know what it is and didn't try to overreach. In that sense, SFV's story mode is G.I. Joe: Retaliation to Mortal Kombat X's Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

@bc2999: Fighting game stories are universally bad. At least Street Fighter V seemed to know it and have a little fun with it.

I thought SFV's story was at least more coherent than the ASW games' stories and better-told than the MK ones. I thought the game part was also better than MK's and Injustice's, primarily because SFV's A.I. is marginally better than what you can find in NRS games.
