SoulCalibur VI Vs. Tekken 7 | Which Is Right For You? | Versus

Tekken 7 and SoulCalibur VI are two of the biggest fighting games around--but how do they compare? Check out our thoughts on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC fighters in this week's Versus!

Tekken 7 launched earlier this year to a positive critical reception, and SoulCalibur VI was also warmly received when it came out just recently. While each series has its own identity and style, they are both long-running fighting game franchises, each from the same publisher in Bandai Namco, so we thought we'd chat about which one we think is better.

We gave out 8/10s in our Tekken 7 review and our SoulCalibur VI review, the latter of which was written by Tamoor Hussain. Tamoor joins Dave Jewitt in Versus this week to compare and contrast these hugely popular series--watch the full video above.

Make sure to tell us your thoughts in the comments below, too. Have you been playing SoulCalibur VI? Will it replace Tekken 7 as your fighting game of choice? If you haven't yet picked up the latest SoulCalibur title--which guest stars The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia--take a look at our SoulCalibur VI US buying guide or some gameplay of every character's critical edge moves. Both games are available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The obvious answer to the question is both lol. That is of course if it's in your budget.

Can't wait to get sc6. Already have tekken 7. This soul calibur has a certain meatyness to it's combat this time around.

Tekken is pretty frustrating due to lack of tutorials, if you're a new player and want to play it, prepare to lose a lot, the juggle fest is unforgiving. I played it for almost a year since launch, I really had fun with it, but I don't think it's a great fighter, I had to learn a lot of things on my own and the community is normally immature, which means learning the game might result very annoying.

SC is a newer title and people say it's easier, I don't know if it's true, either way SCVI looks like the better option.

Sounds like Soul Calibur is the game for me.

I personally feel equal about the 2 fighting games. I'd take this Soul Calibur if it were not for Tekken 7. The quality I think in Soul Calibur may have the edge a little more despite not owning it. I'm more for Tekken because it's more freelance fighting variety with the option of weapons and Noctis makes it extra special with his own stage to randomly play according to the game's choice. Should I get Soul Calibur VI because I like Tekken 7? I think so but I am itching a bit to get it yet I am indecisive

@J-007: Same here. I have tekken 7, street fighter v arcade edition, injustice 2 and killer instinct. I know i should have soul calibur 6 as well but i just don't know why i haven't bought it yet. But I know I'm going to.

@gr4h4m833zy: So many choices but I'm hampered with them a bit. Give it time maybe and if you get tired of one of those games you own which I do too except Killer Instinct then get Soul Calibur VI. Can't really go wrong with one of the best Soul Calibur sequels around. In fact I have a couple of games to sell already so I think I'm just about ready to get it as well
