More "artificial" increase of difficulty due to lack of creativity in developing combat that is fun and challenging at the same time. I remember it the same tired stuff from the last few SH installments: combat that was frustrating, rather than challenging, due to angle issues and artificially slow attack speeds and impossible targeting. I'd let the series rest in peace indeed, as a user, only then it can really die and rest in peace. I loved Silent Hill 1 many, many years ago, on PS1. After that, the game sequels increasingly started to become just "frustrating and disturbing", rather than "fun and scary".
Does anyone know what team silent is doing? Seriously, just come back!
another unscary failure just like Homecoming, will you just leave the franchise rest in peace? :\
I wanted to disagree, but I can't, the combat looks terrible.
i absolutely love the silent hill series, but....i have to also admit! this fighting system looks ropey! i hope the controlls arent going to be annoying. the camera looks really all over the place as well. it also looks really really dark i found that to be one of the most annoying things to an otherwise great games.
he is fighting like a girl, what kind of combat system is that ???? he is a man and must fight like one,i mean the monster is infront of him and he is waving the weapon in the air :S , i hope they work something up before the release
hmm this looks rather annoying.... and not fun =(
i hope this game to b good cuz i miss a good SH (my personal opinion)
Has an Alan Wake-like vibe to it. Creepy man on reflection.
@SiLeNtWrAiTh234 - so what if I have Q3 icon? Just lol man. I've played first and second silent hill games many times (already firgot, how much),third and fourth only 5 times each to get endings that's it/// and i played beside them many games - just like everyone else here. but i'm a huge sh fan and i wanted to express my feelings and thoughts- if you want to add sometihng - positive or negative - you welcome. don't want - just skip my comments.
@skakruk says the guy who has quake three for his icon -_-
looks hard.... gonna be fun i think....
I felt no scares or chills from this video. Just annoyance. I'm sure there is other stuff I can say about this, but I can't now.
Too much combat, quicktime events are the worst thing ever, and "What the hell?" is one of the most pointless, cliche lines in any game or movie.
@sheego - thanks man,you've added to my thoughts///
i'll bet this is like on hard difficulty and highter..but wtf - from what is shown the game is too much combat-emphasised. wtf, konami? where's silent hill true exploration and puzzles. if i want combat i would prefer any other game. that is true - current action/adventure games are moving into action and forgetting adventure. in the past the adventure part - this was what left some feelings and thoughts after the game was comleted, not a combat (i mean, not completely) but still i hope seasoned gamers will understand what i'm talking about. nowadays,it's action, combat - for much of a time - thoughtless, mindless, repetitive. (maybe thoughtless, mindless too big'n heavy words) but repetitive - tha's for sure. such games as this one just makes me sad. for those ppl that will tell me to shut up when i talk about atmosphere and that i should get play old ones to feel and remember what i was talking about - somewher they correct but this type of game - that's were things are not to be changed only added to them. lke dead space (first one,i mean)
The reflections of the two guys kind of impared the view, but it sure looks interesting. That guy can really take a beating. The enemies seem to be a little meaner, and a lot more intelligent. Quite looking forward to seeing how this one will turn out.
hmm. Quicktime combat sequences. movement still seems a little joggy. However the map and environment looks very rich. Only a LONG demo of exploration AND combat will satisfy my curiosity as to Downpour being anywhere near it's great, earlier successors all so important Silent hill "atmosphere" though. I'll wait to see more.
those monster screams are annoying. :/
For me it was the movement of the Silent Hill games that made them great, the way you are vunerable. I was afraid that they were going in this direction with the more "action"-ish feel. This guy could try out for the wwe with his chairsmashing and Extinguisger bashing. As soon as you get the feeling as a gamer of being strong in "Survival Horror" games, for me it automaically takes away the scare factor.
OK is it just me? Im seeing images of 2 guys what i am presuming that they are watching and commenting on the game. Speaking of the game great graphics but I the sense that the mechanics is really no better than the other SH games. I mean the movements is not all that smooth....
