We're counting the days until Red Dead Redemption 2 is released, but there are still a bunch of questions that need answering. One of these is whether the game will receive DLC like the first game did with Undead Nightmare. While it's still unclear, parent company Take-Two Interactive does seem positive on DLC as a business model.
Since GTA IV, Rockstar Games' titles have been known for their large, content-filled DLC offerings; however, Grand Theft Auto V didn't receive any single-player DLC of its own. Rockstar Games indicated that it could receive some, but that never ended up happening--the studio's focus may have been on the ultra-popular GTA Online mode, which still receives an abundance of post-launch support. Regardless, Take-Two executive Karl Slatoff says it's something Rockstar could consider doing in the future, though it hasn't made any announcements for Red Dead Redemption 2 or any other games yet.
Red Dead Redemption 2 hits PS4 and Xbox One on October 26 and is our headlining story for today's GameSpot Daily. However, we've got a bunch of other stories ready to go in 30 minutes or less, so stay tuned.
Rage 2 and Just Cause 3 developer Avalanche Studios has been acquired in what the developer calls a "historic deal." Danish company Nordisk Film was already invested in the Rage 2 co-developer but has now purchased the remaining shares for 89 million Euros. This makes it the largest acquisition in the company's 100-year-plus history. Nordisk Film has previously invested in studios that have produced titles such as the open-world driving game Trailmakers and the WWII MMOFPS Heroes & Generals.
In other news, it looks like the original Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Now, it's already available on the latter, but it's unclear if this is a remaster or something similar. Game of the Year Edition released on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC back in 2010 and included all of the DLC packs. Could this be a lead-in for an announcement of a new Borderlands game? Either way, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford says a Borderlands 3 won't be at E3.
And for our last story, the 1997 Pokemon Gold demo has been found, and within it, people have discovered unused Pokemon designs. We take a look at them in the video above.
And that's what you'll find in today's show, but be sure to tune in every day of the week at 11 AM PST/2 PM EST/7 PM BST/4 AM AEST for another episode of GameSpot Daily. We cover the most exciting gaming news in 30 minutes or less.
