Raft Is Steam's Dark Souls Of Ocean Survival Games - Best PC Games | Steam Punks

Dark Souls Remastered and new survival hit Raft headline this week’s great PC games, along with Castlevania revival Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and Pixeljunk Monsters 2.

So many great PC games come out on Steam every week, and there’s always something brand new and interesting to play, like this week’s freshest survival hit, Raft, which was just released on Steam Early Access. But sometimes you want to go back to something you know and love, and revival and remasters were unquestionably among some of the biggest games this week:

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon ($9.99 USD)

You may already know about Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the upcoming game from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night mastermind Koji Igarashi that brings us another sprawling Metroidvania from the person who helped birth the genre. But you may not know about Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, a spinoff game that takes its inspiration from 8-bit Nintendo Castlevania games. With a pitch-perfect presentation and great level and boss designs, playing Curse of the Moon is exactly what playing Castlevania on your NES is like in your memory.

PixelJunk Monsters 2 ($14.99 USD)

The original PixelJunk Monsters was an engrossing and charming tower defense game that many PlayStation 3 owners sunk way too much time into. Ten years later, and we have its sequel, which boasts a somehow even more adorable visual style and the same classic gameplay loop that made the original so great, with a few additional tweaks. While the online co-op mode definitely needs some serious work, PixelJunk Monsters 2 still has the bones to suck up your time if you decide to go solo.

Dark Souls: Remastered ($39.99 USD, $19.99 if you own Prepare To Die Edition)

It’s pretty likely that you have a good idea of what the Dark Souls series is--the medieval action-RPG that helped set new expectations for acceptable difficulty and challenges in video games. Dark Souls: Remastered takes the much-beloved original game in the series and improves it visually with some additional quality-of-life improvements. What this means for PC players is that it works at peak performance right out of the box, without the need for any additional tinkering to make it playable. Just watch out for the hackers in PVP.

Raft ($19.99)

The latest survival sim to explode onto Steam Early Access and capture everyone's attention is Raft, a game that puts you on a barebones raft in the middle of an endless ocean, and asks you to make do. You’ll be salvaging debris from the ocean with a goal to keep yourself alive while building up your raft into some kind of extreme water mansion, as well as keeping sharks from chewing everything up as best as you can. Survival fans, rejoice! Here’s a game where you never need to leave your precious base camp.
