Beyond didn't even get a nomination.. ah well.. it's more like an interactive movie rather than a videogame after all..
However.. if GTAV gets this I'll be disappointed..
If Infinite gets this ill eat my own foot
Please don't give GTA V GOTY anywhere on any platform.
I would vote Puppeteer. wait, where is it????
The Last of Us for the win...... played the intro, its cool, just not ready to stop playing poker at the apollo, or some spit.
I'm sad, but at least it was nominated. No one seems to share my zest for Ni No Kuni, it was such a great game, a masterpiece even! and its less then ten bucks to psplus members. that is one game i fully support, and would do so again, it was worth every penny of the sixty bucks i spent. kinda wish i had bought the bunduru edition with the map of japan (i know i am entering into joke territory, but i really am serious). anybody who has an attention span longer than three and a half minutes should like this game, and it is a great game for grandparents to buy for their grandchildren!!!! why not?
@wowwow27 Ni No Kuni is for sure a masterpiece... Sadly I couldn't get past Porco Grosso :(
PS3 had amazing exclusives this year: The Last of Us, Ni No Kuni, and also Puppeteer, Beyond, Sly Cooper, Tales of Xiila, these four are not on the list, and a lot of multiplatforms. Yeah, that's not right....
Also Dragon's Crown.
It nice to see DMC between the nominees.Although, it makes me wonder why metal gear rising didn't make it.
@Wolf42Moon Yeah, I actually really like DMC, but thought MGRR was a bit more solid. Then again I tend to prefer bizarre Japanese games.
easily TLOU for me as well..loved the story so much i replayed it straight after finishing it..and i still love and play the multiplayer..so well rounded
Blah blah, TLOU wins. Moving on.
1. Last Of Us
2. Bioshock Infinite
3. Assasins Creed IV
Damm this is hard Last of us Tomb raider GTA5 and Black flag all were awesome game
Gran Turismo 6 should be here. But of course it isn't, because some nutcase gave it 7. Game that's an 8 at least, 9 if you only enjoy driving and let some other things go. DMC, lol, that's a real 7.0 game.
All of these games are okay, but nothing worthy of GOTY. No game of this year should win GOTY. Every game I bought in the last 3 years has been severely disappointing. I keep going back to my older systems it's gotten so bad. People need to stop pre ordering to give developers more incentive to complete their games. GTA 5, Bioshock 3, TLOU, AC4, all had potential to be great, but felt very lacking and unfinished.

You have to be kidding me
Last of Us should win, what an amazing exclusive!
Ni No Kuni is in this?! Man I sure hope that game wins!

Being a PC gamer, I see 80% of that list and think of them as PC games, but the Last of Us and Ni No Kuni were fantastic exclusives.
Last of us makes your heart stop from time to time and that u dount get ewery day.
This year is going to be an interesting matchup. I can easily see that the games “The last of us” and “Beyond two souls” have an enormous fan base and that many view them as game of the year material. The further I scroll down this page I see lots of comments implying that “The last of us” is without question the game that will crown over the others, and that some people are “done” with GS for not including BTS. I enjoyed most of these games and realistically “The last of us” has some tough competition, primarily from GTA5. Bioshock Infinite and Ni no Kuni are also fantastic games, and shouldn’t be laughed at in consideration for the nr 1 spot. Black Flag also has an enormous fan base perhaps equal to “The last of us”. If the masses and what most people like is taken into consideration then the tittles of “The last of us” and Black Flag stand strong, but even then they are not even close to the popularity of GTA5.
Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag is the best game on this list.
Sadly Ni No Kuni doesn't stand a chance against these games, especially TLoU (which I also love) and GTA V because
1) Its animated and society dictates that animation = cartoons = baby stuff
2) It appeals to a much smaller audience than the others
@HowlPendragon Anybody who thinks Studio Ghibli is cartoons and baby stuff is mentally retarded. This "kids game" is 10x more adult than GTAV.
Everything else than the last of us is just a joke :)
Go away hipster.
@swedensiorni no kuni is awesome -_-
@uchihasilver Yes but I believe it's number two.
@swedensior oh no doubt i loved the last of us ^_^ although i cant help but feel this isnt a ps3 game of the year category but rather multiplat xD dumbass gamespot
could have included Tales of Xillia
Ni No Kuni destroy all of them and come on DmC and Rayman Legends? There's Puppeteer, Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and many more games that could substitute them. I mean, if it's a PS3 nomination you guys should give more space to the exclusives of the PS3 and then you think about the multiplatform games. Anyway, first Ni No Kuni, The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, GTA V and Guacamelee!
How is DmC included but not Puppeteer? makes no sense! you could have at least included Tales of Xillia or Disgaea D2 instead of DmC
oh never mind this is gamespot.. carry on
Rayman Legends followed by Assassin's Creed IV and DmC for me.
There's quite a spectrum of different great games here that it almost seems unfair to compare them to each and choose one over another. It'd be fun if The Last of Us won, because it's an exclusive that feels very PS3-exclusiv-y and also because of the comment shitstorm that it caused. Lol, everyone comparing it to other games, especially when it becomes irrelevant and/or absurd, saying "TLoU got an 8, so that means this other game is better/worse than it!?".
I don't care because there's no Beyond: Two Souls
Would have Revengeance over DmC easily. Not that it's a bad game by any means, I totally enjoyed it but it was way too easy.
Where is Beyond two souls?
Puppeteer scored a 9 and is not included, DmC, which is awful by the way, scored a 7.5, but it's up for consideration. This is why I find it ridiculous to score games...
@DiamondDM13 Yes, it is quite ridiculous to score games, because scores say so little about a game.
Spoiler: GTA will win although it doesn't deserve it. $$
I would vote for Nino Kuni but Last of Us im sure will get it
won't... that would mean "we apologise for our score..." will never happen
I've played all of these to some extent except Brothers, Tomb Raider and Guacamelee. All of them were great games, though The Last of Us was the only one that had me glued to the controller from start to finish. It's potentially my game of the year in general.
Rayman Legends was scored a 9 on PS3.
I would say The Last of Us was easily game of the year. Not sure Gamespot will think so tho.

So as it seems it's between GTA V and The Last Of Us. Personally I have only played the Last Of Us, and from that experience I had, I hope GTA V wins the award.
@Rheinmetal gta 5 was a huge let down. This is coming from a huge GTA fan.
The Last of Us is the only correct answer here, even though i completed it months ago, the impact is still with me till this moment. That is not something i can say for the other games on this list, GTA included
