Cyberpunk 2077's Night City: Exploring The Open World Gameplay

Here's a first look at Cyberpunk 2077's Night City, as the game's main character accepts a quest and visits a ripperdoc for some sweet modifications.

Cyberpunk 2077 sets you free in what appears to be an incredibly detailed open world known as Night City, which is set in a futuristic dystopian Northern California. Towering concrete buildings and neon-lit signs are only a few of the elements that make up Night City; active shops and dense crowds create a dense atmosphere that feels lived in. And in the 48-minute gameplay reveal footage, you got a taste of what it's like to wander the sprawling Night City in Cyberpunk 2077.

The demo takes place in the Watson District within Night City where NPCs roam around and have their own independent conversations. You can take on quests within the city and engage with the things happening around you, but the world will also be reactive to you, sometimes in subtle ways. In one small example, an advertisement display switches content specifically targeted towards V, the player-character, that then sets a marker to where to find the product.

In regards to open-world traversal, it's stated during the demo that developer CD Projekt Red aims to have Night City seamlessly explorable without explicit loading screen or load times. There will also be an active day-night cycle throughout the game.

This is the first public reveal of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay, and you can watch the entire demo here on GameSpot. Although there is no release date, let alone a release window, the game is confirmed for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
