Why ask a yes/no question "Did you enjoy this video?", and provide only a single "UPVOTE" button for answer? If I think the video deserves a thumbs down? "Oh, we don't want any negative vibes on OUR stuff".

Anyways, it really pissed me off when the dude said "however, these are all handcrafted by the team, so they are taking a quality over quantity approach", which a biased load of bad smelling popcorn. One might say they are taking a hand made approach, rather than an algorithmic approach, but that does not inherently mean "quality over quantity". How so? They are all artists, they just approach the desired goal in different ways. Just because a person picks up a brush and produce a very nice painting, does not mean that a person creating a robot that produce a painting looks inferior. That the robot can also extrapolate the painting into many, also doesn't necessarily mean that quality needs to be sacrificed. Now, what is missing in looking at it this way is the person that not only produces many paintings, but also invented a way to make paintings autonomously. Now, that is a special quality to mention.

Lots of people appreciate an algorithm that has the ability to generate infinite objects, rather than just an old "copy of the universe" (slight sarcasm on my part, towards the author of the video, not the games or their makers in any way). Also, since the algorithms allow the game to zoom in infinitely, to for example land on a surface of a planetary body, I'd say it has rather an extra quality to it (which the author even mentions).

I am using infinite rather freely here, I am of course not being literal in the sense, merely making a point.

Funny that the video big ups NMS for heading also to console, and SC for its potential features, but E:D is the only real game right now, and the first one to console in XBONE. Timing is everything.

Star Citizen is the biggest scam I have ever seen, and the num nuts who bought into it are going to get screwed over. Anybody ever remember star lancer 2?? Or how long it took him get out Strike Commander?? 2016 Dateline NBC: English Game developer Chris Roberts, had absconded with 100 million dollars to the Cayman Islands leaving many trusted believers and investors in more shock than followers of a bad Cult.

Try Starpoint Gemini 2 if you haven't. Check out Limit Theory, Kerbal Space program... AAA titles sucks nowadays... We are talking about unfinished Elite Dangerous and unreleased SC and NMS while we could be playing awesome games that are already out.

Impresionante. Ojo los tres son grandiosos. Mientras mato la furia con Super Time Force ULTRA.. (jaja).

No man's sky is too ambitious to be realized properly.

Elite dangerous looks pretty good (i have never seen any footage or read anything about the game and thus can form a pretty solid opinion about the game).

Star Citizen will be the biggest kickstarter disappointment in history and will reduce millions of grown men to a sea of tears among a choir of "that's it?"

@Keaze_:

"No Man's Sky is too ambitious"

And yet they've shown us actual GAMEPLAY, showing it living completely up to expectations.

"I have never seen any footage or read anything about this game and thus I can form a pretty solid opinion about the game" So of course, knowing less makes your opinion more, not less accurate.

@Keaze_:
Elite Dangerous is really fun... for a short while. And then you start to realise that there is really nothing to do in this Galaxy of 400 billion stars. It's fun to be a bounty hunter, but that job profile becomes aimless because the only thing you're doing it for is to upgrade or buy a new ship. Mining becomes a chore the moment you realise the enormous time it takes to mine and the little money you receive in doing so. It's a beautiful game nonetheless.

Of all of these games the one I am most excited about is No Man's Sky. The art design with the extension of planet hopping around the galaxy appeals greatly to me.

So, after this video I don't really see the difference other than on the technology level. That and that SC has fps. In this sense the video didn't help me that much - how is the gameplay actually? I find that more important than how accurately the start systems are made or not. And that SC does the physics even more realistically - what does that even mean in terms of gameplay? Harder? Cooler? Easier? Won't notice a difference?

Sure, too early to tell, but if one takes up this stuff then there should be some sort of conclusion.

@gspotalex: While similar these are all very different games.

ED's main appeal is realistic space physics. Its the most 'sim' of all the games and because of it will appeal more to hardcore sim players. The core of the game is pretty solid, but its currently lacking a lot of features and things to do. It is coming along nicely though but wont appeal to a good swath of people until it is fleshed out more, and may not ever have mass appeal because it has a steep learning curve and is also hardcore as far as death penalties etc. Its possible to screw up and lose all your stuff in ED and have to start over in the starter ship if you make some critical mistakes. It currently has the best Rift integration.

SC is more arcade and action oriented just from what I've seen. It also has the best 'eye candy'. (Not trying to slight the game) I havent played it because its still a bit too far off from the full game for me I'm waiting til its closer to launch to give it a go. It looks promising though. It seems to being built with story and playing with friends/clans as a major part of the gameplay especially considering they will have larger ships where multiple players can be on the same ship. (I know this is also coming to ED just saying)

I havent seen any real footage of NMS, but it seems to be the 'lite' version of the three, with exploration as the key feature. Especially considering they've already shown that they have tons of planets with life on them, compared to ED which has a huge galaxy full of mostly empty planets just like in real life. (There is an alien threat in ED the same aliens from the original old school game the Thargoids)

@oflow@gspotalex:

You seem to have a couple misconceptions about SC, and I hope you don't mind me filling in some blanks for you.

What you have seen is just a tiny fraction of the game as a whole.

The Arena Commander module we have available right now will be a game within the game, and is intended to be arcade and action oriented.

However the game as a whole will be far more in depth than what you have seen in AC.

Bounty hunting, piracy, trading, mining, salvaging, exploration, and much much more, will be available in the full game.

The game is being designed specifically for everyone in mind, both solo players as well and both small and large groups of players, with no particular focus on either.

So while its a part of the game, there is no major focus on playing with friends or orgs as you seem to think here.

As for story, that depends on how you define story.

The single player campaign(SQ42) will have a branching storyline that you will follow when playing, that's what I consider story driven.

However the PU, while it will have story content, will not have story driven content like the single player campaign, but more like the story being driven by or created around the players actions in the game.

We probably have different viewpoints on this, so I think its more opinion based that fact based.

@Darkwalker75@oflow@gspotalex: not really a misconception, like I said I havent played it but arena commander is more arcade oriented thats what I was speaking on.

With a much smaller number of systems, it would tend to lend itself more toward interacting with other players, unlike Elite where you can literally play for weeks in open and not see another player, that was my point.

@oflow@Darkwalker75@oflow:

Well you didn't specify that it was AC you were talking about so I though you meant the game as a whole.

So that part was a simple misunderstanding.

As for the systems, there are indeed a much smaller number, but each system is very large.

We are talking about it taking on average 30 minutes real time to cross a star system at cruise speeds(0.2c or 20% speed of light).

So the chance of an encounter with another player can become very small here as well.

You said "It seems to being built with story and playing with friends/clans as a major part of the gameplay especially considering they will have larger ships where multiple players can be on the same ship".

There is a difference between interacting with other players and players actually playing together in group related content, and I interpreted what you were saying as the latter.

@Darkwalker75@oflow@Darkwalker75: fair enough. Like I said, I'm not trying to bash SC and I hope its successful. I will also definitely give it a go but I'm waiting for it to get closer to a release state that it currently is.

I take it you play the game is it as grindy as ED?

I didn't think you were trying to bash the game either, I just got the impression you had misunderstood some things and wanted to clear it up in a friendly manner.

I haven't played it myself either.

My computer cant handle games as heavy as SC without going into bluescreen within 5 minutes.

Its a hardware issue, not specific to SC, any games that puts even a medium load on it causes bluescreen.

Just ordered the parts for a new computer on Friday so hope to have the new one ready by the weekend.

For the first time I'm actually going with more than 1 GPU(Dual SLI) and water cooled CPU, and feel like I'm taking a step up in terms of gaming equipment.

Whether its as grindy as ED is too early to tell though, because right now all we have is the AC module limited to dogfighting.

Once we see the PU Alpha and Beta we will have a better idea of whether it is or not.

@Darkwalker75@oflow@Darkwalker75: The thing that really interests me the most about Star Citizen is the actual Citizen component of the game. The economic system they have planned seems brilliant. I dont really care much for the dogfighting or the FPS aspects, but the actual economy and politics they have planned are what will really make me want to play this. Its also why I havent invested in yet because currently there really isnt much to do in the game in its current pre alpha state that I'm interested in.

@oflow@Darkwalker75@oflow:

You don't have to participate in the Pre-alpha even if you have invested in the game, and the cheapest pack is $30, $35 if you want beta access, which is about half of the estimated retail price.

However, If you dont want to put money into the game yet, that's your choice and I'm not gonna try to convince you otherwise.

Like you I'm not very interested in the dogfighting, sometimes it will be inevitable though, but hopefully it will not be too often.

I'm more into exploring, heading out into the unknown and see whats out there, and discover something new.

I have always been fascinated by space, wondering whats out there and wish I could go out and explore.
