AARRRGGGGGGG cmon MGR COMON TO PC!!!!
I can't play Metal Gear: Rise although I want to. The weird characters and animation are too much for me. The cheesiness in that game makes me cringe. I played i see a lot of Vanquish in this game cause of Platinum but the cheesiness in Vanquish was enough for this gen.
If you play Bionic from Platinum Games you will see a lot of Metal Gear in that too.
Weird animations? In a hack and slay game? o.O
You can blame the game for not having "realistic" animations if that is what you want in a h&s game(good luck finding one), but you can't blame MGR for having bad animations. In fact they are quite stellar.
@R2C25 Ive played a bit of vanquish and I can tell you that you actually care about what is going on in MGR. You don't buy a game like vanquish for its story do you? And you usually don't buy hack and slash games for story either...but MGR actually has a decent story.
@R2C25 I though the same way for a bit. I just got Raising and am loving it. It's not like Vanquish. I thought I would be really cheesy too but once your in context things don't fall apart and come off that way. It's a cool game in a way of being really bad ass. I mean I'm not 12 so it takes some nice scripted action and fluid animations to get me excited and I was all up in it. You should look at giving it a rent. I'm enjoying it so far. It still has it's MGS and Kojima charm too. The nick names are pretty bad but I can forgive them because the game is aware that "Jet Stream Sam" is just bad... It still breaks up combat with other gameplay elements like controlling robots and I wouldn't call it true MGS stealth but you can sneak around and assassinate people. No block or dedicated dodge button so that makes it hard. The game tells you how to parry but you need to master that in order to be good. (I play on hard btw). You get really cool side weapons and grenades which I find myself using a wide range of things in my inventory. I really just hate how you have to pretty much stop moving in order to switch items. It breaks up the flow and it can be difficult getting away from enemies for a sec. After you go into the item menu the game pauses though. All in All you should try it... Yeah.
@FusionRain @R2C25 Thanks for the reply. I was compelled by your description of the game until you said that I have to stop moving in order to switch weapons and that's a no no for me. I might try it one day, you changed my view of the game though.
@R2C25 Oh I just looked and there is a move list. It's just under "HELP". Which I never clicked. Also you can use the item change menu you just cant do it while using the 'Ninja Run' technique, which is pretty much sprint with auto traverse. I use this allot to get around and during fights and never realized that you have to stop do that in order to do anything but attack out of the run. Whoops. Sorry for all the incorrect info.
@R2C25 Yeah I have to be honest. It's not perfect and I really hate how I need to get away from people to change weapons. TO give it credit you can use two weapons at once.Let me try to clear it up a bit.You start with a sword with a basis of quick attacks (square/x) and strong attacks (triangle/ y). You get another weapon pretty early on and you can equip it and instead you only using the new weapon. It takes over the strong attack slot. So now you can use the sword and your new weapon together to create different combos or use the other weapons for situational combat. So you will always use square/x for the sword and light attacks and if you equip a sub weapon then you will use triangle/y for that weapon. It's actually pretty fun. I'm trying not to spoil things because I'm enjoying the story. It has great mood. You can also buy upgrades and skills for your main weapon and sub weapons. Adding even more things to do. I just don't know if they tell you how to do the new moves you acquire and the picture and vague description is almost guessing what your gonna get, then you have to figure out how to use it. ( Unless there is a menu for it I didn't look).
Haha loved Tom Mc Shea's narrating :)
Defiently picking up Metro last night on Tuesday.
@marcheegsr You mean "Metro Last Light"
@jflkdjs @marcheegsr Don't believe it if you want, but that typo happened here (in this site) long time ago, and many people knew this game for the first time as Metro last night.
One of the best "New Releases" video i have seen at Gamespot ! Still laughing here !
