Mortal Kombat 11 changes things up for Krypt; it's now a third-person adventure-like mode that takes place on Shang Tsung's island. Here, you roam around and explore to unlock the multitude of the game's content. You'll have to spend Koins to open chests which award you with kosmetics, augments, kombat kard flair, and a bunch of other kool stuff. But there's more to the Krypt than spending koins; much of the island is locked by puzzles and key items you'll need to find. In the video above, we show you how to get those key items and offer a few tips to acquire some of the trickier items.
In a way, the Krypt is an ode to Mortal Kombat as a whole with sections that references to old stages, homages to the series' characters, and nods to story elements. You use Shao Kahn's hammer to break down parts of the environment, use Motaro's horn to open a particular door, and walk through Goro's throne room and see his body left inside. These are all things you'll come across during your time in the Krypt, which are vital to navigating the island and accessing a majority of it. For example, Ermac's amulet allows you to manipulate and spend souls to open green soul containers found across the island--you can also repair the bridge, though it's going to cost you 2000 souls (which is a lot).
