With the release of Metro Exodus, developer 4A Games has combined linear missions with mini open-worlds, merging the past and future to stunning effect.

I have found there is a rather cartoony look at times due to lack of finer detail on skeletons and some other world objects etc on Xbox one X .

On the PC it has this fine dust layer to make things look like they have sat there for a long time undisturbed. Surely this could have at least been applied to Xbox one X along with tessellation. It just looks very sharp but a bit odd at times .

The console has the memory and should have enough GPU power for medium PC settings for tessellation effects yet they are completely absent.

Still a great game but i hope they patch in some extra niceties for X going forward.

So far it is easily my game of the year though. Nice to just play something day one that works.

Another open world game.

Now I have to decide if I like Metro enough to deal with it or am so completely bored with open world that I skip it.

@ollier: The open areas worked great, the storytelling was boring. That is not what I was expecting from a Metro game.

@salty101: I wish Fallout 4 had this engine lol

@ollier: it's more like going from a hub to the next hub, wich are pretty distinct by one another because they're different biomes. Any demanding GTA-esque open world it's going to be so dissapointed, but I find that as an advantage of trying to be a centered experience.

@ollier: It's not fully open world though. It's some open areas that you stop off at on your linear train journey. You only spend a few hours in each area so not the same as your average open world game.

@analgrin: Better for it actually as far more variety.

The game is unrealistic! Your wife hails you on the radio and you intentionally ignore her and continue your mission. Once finished you come back and get greeted by a hug and a kiss! Watchmen are more believable than this BS!

@sheek_76: Appreciate they at least put a bit of effort in the dialogue and i like how characters turn away when they finish talking to you.

I forgot how many times have tried finishing the first two games. I always get bored midway through them and stop playing. 3 looks good, I'll probably give it a go once they release it on Steam.

@ahpuck: I don't know why that happened to you, but if it any consolation, the intro tries to put things into perspective before starting.

@ahpuck: try fallout 76! You'll end up uninstalling it in a matter of a few hours and playing Metro 2033, Last light and Exodus just for the sake of washing your eyes from the horror and dismay caused by the new bethesda online crappy game!

One of the best characters introduction and development in gaming. You just want to know what happens to them in years to come.

@larry7228: Some of the stuffs from G2A is from stolen credit cards/stolen code. That's why it has such a low price. And when you buy from G2A, it's actually worse than if you were to pirate it outright since the publisher/developer has to refund the stolen money, effectively costing them the money of a copy while receiving nothing in the first place. I'd suggest you either pirate the damned game or buy it from legitimate channel instead of G2A because they are actively destroying the game industry.

@doremonhg9x: Sometimes but in general they just buy from countries with poor currency value against the greenback. I didn't like it either. I used to use it ages ago but i always got too many annoying emails wanting feedback etc.

@deviltaz35: Yeah, but if that was the case the name of the product should include the region the CD-key is intended for. But even some global region stuffs over there is like 20 to 50% cheaper than other retailers. I used to buy a lot of stuffs from G2A when they first came out but the more I read and know about them, the more I don't want to get anywhere near them.

One thing I wish they'd moved on from is the silent protagonist style. Makes some of the stuff like radio chat just seem stupid.

@salty101: Ran out of money for a main voice actor ?

@salty101: agreed, this is my biggest complaint with Exodus. its pretty awkward when your wife is hailing you on the radio to see if you are still alive and you don't respond because... reasons

@with_teeth26: Big twist. Turns out Artyom is a "dark one" all along, using mind control to make others believe you are human. You've been talking telepathically with everyone all along hence why you don't talk out loud. Also explains why the other dark ones in the game have a connection with you :)

@analgrin: If only. Instead they decided to switch to generic storytelling.

This while also getting the opressive atmosphere of Metro faithful. I'm playing on normal, and I still find it unforgiving. What a great game. I wonder if any other SP shooter could try this.

@santinegrete: I find it a bit easy except where the game doesn't let you , you can just run past a lot of the enemy and get to a safe spot. They don't follow you for long.
