I liked this season as much as the first, I liked the flashbacks as it explained why she is the way she is, but it all depends on what you want out of the show so each to their own.

What incredible first season? I got through 5 episodes before deciding it wasn’t worth anymore time. Very boring series and not worthy as a marvel series, but this is just my opinion. My brother in law who is more huge marvel and DC than me and he fell asleep through the second episode LoL. Doesn’t say much honestly....

I just can't get into these small Marvel series. Hard to watch em after seeing Ragnarock, Guardians 2 etc, etc. And how awesome these movies were. If they can't budget some bigger things for these shows, they will all be mediocre compared to the movies

@pongman75: Daredevil and punisher seasons were better than the majority of marvel movies especially campy guardians 2, what a bad sequel to great first movie

@chillingnaire: Daredevil and Punisher were good. You didn't like Guardians 2? I love that movie. But I like campy lol. And Ragnarok was crazy good imo. I bet we see less campiness with Infinity War tho.

This season is terrible. Jessica Jones is an awesome character and can be completely engrossing in the right story, but since season one they seem to not understand what to do with her. But being brooding and anti-social with an edge is not enough to sustain a multi seasoned show.

Some heroes can exist without an strong antagonistic force, Jessica Jones isn't one of them. Whatever she faces has to be more of a threat to her relationships and way of life than she is and that's a very tall order.

I still have two eps to go but i like it overall. The interaction between Jessica and her Mother is exceptional. It gets a bit annoying with Trish but she is a good actress that plays her.

I like how it shows a much more human side but i am sick and tired of seeing Jessica with a drink in her hand if that is still in series 3 to this degree i am out.

Can't agree with critics on this. The point of view in this series is for a hero who really, really, really doesn't want to be a hero, and then showing in detail what events lead up to that person with powers still having to step up to be a hero in time of crisis.

And it's very noir-ish - this is the MCU version of a Raymond Chandler story. The point of it isn't Zap, Bow, Bang - it's a more layered story about flawed people, some of whom happen to have powers. The fact that it co-exists in the same universe as places like Asgard and Wakanda makes the story more compelling - for me, anyway.

I felt like throughout this season they were pushing a theme of how there's really no heroes and no villains, there's just people. The "good guys" returning from the first season all get their hands dirty (Jessica kills psycho prison guard and makes it look like suicide, Trish goes batshit/kills Jessica's mom in cold blood, Matrix lawyer tricking those who stole from her into committing murder) and the new "bad guys" that were introduced I felt somewhat sympathetic for towards the end (the monster is just a mom who lost her loved ones and can't control her emotions, hippie Dr. Cylon only did experiments on people to save them then gets blown-up cuz Trish). I didn't really have anyone to root for or against.

This is in direct contrast to the dichotomy of Jessica vs Killgrave that made the first season so great. The overall approach is too slow and just doesn't work for a Marvel show where people expect to eventually see heroes vs bad guys in some sort of action scene.

While I did not care for the performance of the mother, this season was very-well done, and had excellent themes: Power, Manipulation, Family (how we identify family), and personal Identity. Comparing Jessica Jones to Punisher is ridiculous, they are two different types of superhero, and the production styles do not match.

"Waiting for something to happen." - I do not want to get into specifics, because: Spoiler Free Review, and much happens in the season. Discovery and decision making are more important than a series filled with fist-fighting/gun-fights...going back to my point: Do not compare Jessica Jones to Punisher and Daredevil - she is a PI, and she PI'd the shit out of Season 2. BTW, as someone who knows people who have addiction and have relapsed - they spiral and spiral fast.

Better luck next-time GS Review

I just finished episode 7 and at this point I am forcing my way through this terrible season. Just boring and really bad soap opera level writing. Very disappointed so far.

Awesome just like last season. Maybe better. My favorites series with Daredevil being extremely close second and Punisher #3. Then Cage, then Defenders.

The folks over at IGN gave it an outstanding review. They even mentioned the importance of the all-women writing team and how there are all these “difficult men” in Hollywood.

Oh wait. Now I see what IGN did...

I'm enjoying it as I really like the character of Jessica Jones, but it does lack a hard focus that season 1 had. I think the movies and shows work best when there is a villain as a solid anchor point to focus on. Killgrave was a good villain that felt kind of refreshing as someone who was slightly unconventional and more of a mental tormentor. Season 2 doesn't have that. I appreciate it's stronger focus on the show as a detective noir, but without the focus, it's not as strong of a season.

Really? I thought it was a vast improvement over the first season.

I had to force myself to watch the first season. This season was so much easier to sit through

I liked the first season quite a bit, but I'm a little put off by all the angry feminist lines and period jokes this season. I just finished episode three last night and I've rolled my eyes so many times that I'm seriously considering not finishing the season. It seems like they're writing for an audience that isn't there.

@jcharp: It's 2018, we're "supposed to be" that audience. Otherwise, we're part of the problem....or something like that.

Uhhhh, it is not!

Same as Defenders and Iron Fist, they are all good shows and critics do not know what they are talking about.

I mean the first season was bad, how can people expect this season to be any good? Weak female lead that you feel zero empathy or attraction to. If this was on network TV, hell even HBO i doubt it would have made it past the pilot.

Like Daredevil unless he is going against Fisk the show is garbage.

Even Punisher, it wasted a whole season just to close the arc of Frank losing his family to his best friend.. What a POS story arc. But i guess Netflix can burn money and keep these shows alive just to have a catalog of garbage.

At least they got everything right on Lemony Snicket.

I gave up after Episode 7. The big reveal was terrible. The conspiracy around her past was not entertaining in the least. The supporting cast is boring and pointless and got way too much screen time.

I DO NOT CARE WHAT HER LAWYER IS DOING! All the prostitutes and sex with homeless people won't make her interesting. Wasting my time!

Patsy Walker might as well be called #MeToo Cat. I don't need politically pushed side character backgrounds wasting my time!

She is going to end up with Luke Cage... right? I mean really, they give her a love interest not Luke Cage... wasting my time!

And Jessica herself, she is more annoying than Danny Rand now. Drunk Miserable and Insufferable character. Watching her in this is somehow more depressing than watching her in Breaking Bad.

I agree, like many recent marvel series it had it's good moments surrounded by mountains of drivel. I dunno if it's budgetary issues or what but they either need new writers to keep the action and character development evenly paced or they just need to stop doing 13 episode seasons. It's abundantly clear that they don't have enough content to fill that many episodes, 8-10 good episodes >>>>>>> 13 dragged out and boring episodes.
