Hitman Vs. Dishonored | Versus

Hitman 2 is on the way later this year, so we thought we'd pit Agent 47 against another great stealth series, Dishonored, to see which is best. New episodes of Versus every Wednesday!

Hitman and Dishonored may, at first glance, seem quite different games, but they have a surprising amount in common. They both emphasize the power of player choice, they both have something of a focus on stealth mechanics, and they both give you a sandbox and a bunch of tools with which you can have fun taking down your target. With Hitman 2 on the way later this year, we got thinking about Agent 47's long-running stealth series and whether it's better or worse than the (relatively) newer stealth challenger, Dishonored.

We decided to sit down and have a lighthearted but passionate debate about which series we prefer. Fighting for Hitman, and all things bald, is trained assassin Oscar Dayus. On Dishonored's chaotic side, meanwhile, is Lucy James, who actually spends a lot of time perched on chandeliers watching unsuspecting targets.

Watch the video above to see how the debate turned out. The discussion begins with randomly selected topics, and the pair argue in support of their respective picks. Alongside the serious analysis from each side, there's also some friendly fun-making and jokes at each other's expense. Be sure to watch till the end to see the quickfire round, which gets a little goofy.

Last week we discussed whether loot boxes were all that bad, and Oscar came out on top over Will Potter, with the audience deciding that, yes, loot boxes are quite bad. Make sure to get your voice heard this week by voting for who you think won the debate on YouTube or by commenting down below. Check back next week for another episode of Versus; new episodes drop every Wednesday at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST / 11 PM AET on GameSpot.com and YouTube.

I was really impressed with the time travel system in Dishonored 2 and the clockwork mansion, such interesting complexities showing how in depth those parts of the game were.

How can you compare a realistic stealth assasination game to a fantasy one? In Dishonored you use superpowers to sneak around and remain unseen, in Hitman you have to find other ways to do so. Compare Hitman to Splinter Cell or something similar. Anyway, I love both games...

Dishonored:

Dishonored has quite a lot to offer. Two characters for perspective, a sense of learning the rules of that world and the Empire; many different approaches to the problem at hand and even a likeness to some of the unique supporting characters. You can see what fits the fate of those characters depending on your approach. It is more work to save a character, but you learn so much more about the world, Emily or Corvo and the people they have to take care of.

@lorddaggeroff: eh for how much I love blood money, it's definetly not the best. Hitman 2016 is on a different level in terms of level design and kill options

@scarlloty: Indeed. Hitman 2016 is hands down the best of the series.

@lorddaggeroff: A New Syphon Filter ?

Sony Bend is working on a new AAA PS4 exclusive, New job listing and a rumor last December.

https://boards.greenhouse.io/sonyinteractiveentertainmentplaystation/jobs/660557

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.oneangrygamer.net/2017/12/rumors-new-syphon-filter-heat-bend-studio-office-move/46147/amp/

This isn't Days gone and they are referring to it separately from Days gone . which means its in pre production . Days gone will be completed in 2018. it was delayed due to the crazy amount of AAA releases later this year leaving no window for it

it makes sense because the Days Gone team will probably be free about ~4 months before its release. for the most part.

The Newer Hitman games suck balls compared to the past ones so for sure Dishonered, I could care less about Hitman 2 this November when RDR2 launches at the end of October.

Hitman vs. Dishonored? Man, that's a tough one. Dishonored is my favorite stealth game; it's a modern take on Thief (way better than the actual modern take on Thief), and the art direction is incredibly cool. But Hitman 2016 finally created the perfect framework for the Puzzle Murder game Hitman has always tried to be, and it was my favorite game of that year. That last Hitman was also super funny in a real cynical way that I dig.

I don't think I can pick a favorite between these two.

If you are talking about the old Hitman games, I would say they win. But with the newer generation of Hitman, definitely not better than Dishonored...

I loved Dark Messiah, but hated Dishonored. Arkane Studios turned to shit the moment Bethesda got involved. So, despite the awful UI and HUD implementation of the 2016 iteration, Hitman is both the superior game and franchise. Obviously.

@gamingdevil800: They probably wanted to keep the comparisons to active series. Poor "Thief," as they say, está muerto.
