Retail price for the standard edition Simcity here in The Netherlands is 60 euros. That is 78 dollars!!! Fortunately EA promised that the UK release will not have these problems, but i'm not buying it. Pun intended.. I'm patiently waiting for an underground release, these prices are insane. If the game would cost less than 30 euros i might have considered buying it.

@deathwish026 If that's right i will have to wait until the price drops, the game does look like fun to me. A game has to be damn good to spend that amount of money on it, like BF3

Here's how we can help. Don't buy the game and don't support this kind of worthless DRM.

@Truth_Hurts_U You can't say that it is worthless since without it it is impossible to play the game. And I don't mean that EA won't let you play without it, but the game can't run since it needs the servers to do a lot of the simulating. So yes the DRM is very necessary, however the execution of it is clearly lacking right now, but it shouldn't last for too long.

@games_are_fun71 @Truth_Hurts_U I disagree with you there. Most modern PC's (and Macs) are multi core and more than capable of chewing on this data, at the same time, it is very very unlikely that a company like EA, that is so tight it only breathes inwards, are going to dedicate 1 cpu core on its servers for each player. I mean, who is picking up the bill for that?

@6orange6 @games_are_fun71 @Truth_Hurts_U This isn't me saying it is necessary, it is Maxis that says so. They say a lot of the simulation is done on EA servers. That is how the glassbox engine works so yes it is still necessary for single player.

@6orange6 @games_are_fun71 @Truth_Hurts_U You need the servers for simulating the interaction between different players at the same time i guess. For any singleplayer actions it wouldnt be necessary.
