Fortnite's Infinity Blade Sword Is A Nightmare To Get

Fortnite's new 7.01 patch add in the Infinity Blade sword for players to use, but there's only one on the map. Here's what it's like to try to get your hands on it.

Season 7 of Fortnite: Battle Royale only recently began, and already Epic has released a new patch, v7.01, introducing even more content. Chief among the additions in this update is that of the Infinity Blade, the game's first sword. Good luck getting it.

As detailed in the patch notes, there's only a single Infinity Blade in a given match, not unlike Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet (except the sword is available in standard matches). It also spawns in a specific place--Polar Peak--every time. And if you've ever done a Fortnite challenge that requires you to go to a specific location as soon as the week begins, you know what it's like: complete and utter mayhem.

That's certainly the case at Polar Peak right now, as any match you play in is likely full of other people who also want to get their hands on the sword. And that's understandable, given it's new, cool, and powerful, doing heavy damage to players and structures (but at the expense of dropping every weapon or item on you when you pick it up). You could always kill the person who gets it and take it for yourself, but the wielder has extra shields and health and gains health on kills, so they're not going to be an easy target.

As such, your best bet may be to rush to it at the beginning of a round--just don't be surprised if the video above becomes a familiar sight for you.
