In my honest opinion, the Remastered version looks worse than the original. The backgrounds actually look really good, but what kills it is the character models. It feels like Square forced the HD on them, and HARD. Most people in the game look like lifeless possessed dolls. Tidus got the worst of it; in this version, he's a cru-cut Barbie with blinking features. An "HD" remake sounds cool, but it's actually hurting the original game's artistic integrity.

Agreed. It seems they did not or were not able to map the old animations onto the new models properly the way they did with KH HD.

I just watched the trailer recently of FF 10 remake and also beat FF 13-3 earlier this month. End of story i got the urge to play FF 10 so i am playing it on the PS2 emulator. Enjoying it so far!

I don't understand why they didn't do a full remake. How lazy.

I think all the characters look terrible in this HD remake. It looks like they're all wearing an inch thick layer of makeup.....

I've been playing HD ps2 games since 5 years ago, some even longer than that, and with better results.

@RAD_RADIO Lol same here. And the sad thing is from what I can tell Square Enix choose not to include the Japanese voices because they wanted the PS3 and Vita versions to be as similar as possible which for me was a deal breaker. To make matters worse I come to find that back in 2010, fans modded a FFX International Iso where they replaced the English audio with the Japanese voice track.

As the great Gaben once said in the book of Valve chapter 23 verse 18, 'piracy is service problem.' When hobbyist end up making a better product in their own free time for no profit better than the mega corporation making fickle design decisions where do you think people are going to turn?

I have heard rumors of a Japanese audio DLC for the HD remake and if thats the case I will gladly pay for the remake. However until then I won't have any issue leaving this game alone. Keep in mind this is from someone who bought the MGS 1-3 collection box set, then the MGS HD Collection, then MGS3 HD on PSN in spite of already owning the HD disc version. I have no problem supporting the series I love, just please don't expect me to pay for an inferior product.

"When asked about the International versions having the option of using Japanese voices with English subtitles, Yoshinori Kitase said that is not possible due to PlayStation Vita not having the capacity for it, and they aim for the two versions to be as identical as can be.[15]"

I get the appeal. I just don't think i'd be up for doing all the grinding again...getting all of the ultimate weapons and working my way through the sphere grid again. I'm happy appreciating it where it left off.

@chicknfeet Really wish they added a system to make it easier like they did with the FFVII re-release on PC where you could add what you wanted.

I know my fiance would love to play this game but she wouldn't get through it in the original state. She would not sit through the grinding at all.

@Toysoldier34 @chicknfeet If you can manage the emulated version on a PC you can use the FFX save editor. It can be a pain in the rear but pretty simple to use once you get the hang of it. Certainly much easier then dedicating 20+ hours to grinding for ~20 hours of story.

With that said it's also possible people might eventually release maxed out start saves on Game Faqs for the Remastered PS3 version where all characters start the game at level 99 etc. At that point all you would need to do is transfer it from a USB formatted as Fat32. However from what I can tell those save files are not available at present time.

I know this is a little off-subject, but does anyone know any places to farm in really late game for VII? I'm not feeling confident in facing Sephiroth yet. I have the Death Penalty and know it's ability, but don't know what to do with everyone else. I suck with Chocobos.

@capt_francis There are chocobo breeding guides on Gamefaqs. I highly recommend doing that.

Do you have the W-item materia? You dig it up at the excavation town. This will make breeding much much easier and cheaper. There is a glitch you can use to duplicate items.

The best place to farm XP and AP is at the northern crater. Somewhere near the bottom is a place you can run into these orange ball things, and another type of enemy which you can only damage if you feed it an elixir. Use W-item to dupe elixirs and keep fighting these two types of enemies. You will max out very quick, both your level and materia.

Sephiroth is quite easy to beat if you got the materia from chocobo breeding. So many easy ways to beat him. Link KOTR with MP turbo or W-summon. I think it works with KOTR. W-summon will summon KOTR twice, get the next guy to Mime it, and the one after that. He should die very quick. It will be 9999 damage x 13 per summon if you maxed out.

Or if you beefed up Cloud, his Omnislash limit will do 9999 x 18.

@Infinite_713 You should honestly just acquire a completely legal PS2 emulator and pop your FFX disc and play it that way. It's cheaper, and you'll witness better results, provided your computer isn't 10 years old. :P

I've been playing the game that way for a past few months, just to stick it to Squenix money milkers.

Is it just me or does the parts about the original look like it has smother movements. Looks like the HD version is choppy almost.

@korn7809 I think you've got that backwards. The original had choppy animation for the characters, but it looks like the hd version removed that.

@psx_warrior@korn7809 If you pause it at 4:33 (when Tidus is jumping to attack) you will get a good example at what I mean.

I guess choppy isn't the right wording.

@torreth1 @RPG_Fan_I_Am I just played both games like a year ago and no, they wasn't that blurry. I'm telling you the game doesn't look that blurry. Sure the graphics were all flat and crappy, but the game still looked smooth. I mean even the words are really blurry...

@RPG_Fan_I_Am @torreth1 That's because the video is being stretched to HD. SD output will look poor when blown up to HD resolutions.

@RPG_Fan_I_Am @torreth1 At the very least it looks like the jerkiness of the characters has been done away with. That bothered me pretty bad when I played X for the first time.

Not a big difference if you ask me. The good thing is that we're getting and old-school Final Fantasy. The new games in the franchise were quite a disappointment.

FFX was a good Final Fantasy, FFX-2 wasn't that great even though I finished it with 100%. What I find funny is people say FFXIII is very boring and shit and all while FFX is also start at point A to point B and no exploration ... I think both game use the hallway/no exploration well within it story.

Am I the only one who prefer the original over the HD remix ?

@Coco_pierrot Actually, X did have lot of exploration that was even better than some games these days, you just were a bit restricted in it until late game when you receive full control of the airship. That's when you can start farming and hunting for the celestial weapons or breaking the damage/health limits. Speaking of the weapons, I REALLY hope they fix that one Chocobo mini-game in the Calm lands. That was ridiculous.
