I think the word "game" is used rather loosely here... Its more of a movie that requires you to hold a small controller for the entire experience....

The one voice over actor makes me think of Johnson from Shadows of the Damned. Especially with the sombrero'd skull popping up while they read the comment.

Walking Dead by Telltale was very highly rated. Beyond 2 Souls is like that, an interactive story where your choices do affect outcomes to an extent (e.g go into the creepy alley or do some busking, save Cole or be a wuss.) I thought the MGS type scene in africa were pretty good, I like the stealth kills, and the LOVE the suicide kills. Story was much more involving than TLOU and I feel this game has more replay value that TLOU. Usually in film polarising movies are usually the greatest IMO. This isnt some generic hollywood blockbuster with a macho male from some comic book you never read. When I finished the game it made me feel like when Aerith died back in 97 or whenever it was (when I was 10). Jodie is my Homes.

On rawkstar007's comments, I hope he realizes that reviews don't all have to be exactly the same in their scoring. Reviewers have opinions, and as such they can have different opinions and thus will give out different scores. If all the reviews were 7.4 then there'd be no reason to read more than one of them.

I find it pretty ridiculous that a reviewer can be criticized for being biased or unfair purely on the basis that his score doesn't hit an unforeseeable average.

@KBABZ I do realize that. I just wanted to raise the question as to why Tom is never in agreement with other professional critics. Also, at what point can we question his credibility without having people constantly bombard us with various "it's just his opinion" comments?

I've read a good majority of his write-ups and while they are well-written, the substance is usually lacking. There are also times when he comes across as bitter, disingenuous, and downright ignorant such as the time he was defending his TLoU review on the spoiler cast (look it up).

I'm just growing increasingly tired of this ongoing theme with Tom, is all.

@rawkstar007 @KBABZ Why does he have to be in agreement with other critics?

And at no point can you viably question his credibility as long as the definition of an opinion remains the same. If the guy has his reasons for liking or disliking a game, then that's his business. It's not like his reviews are the end-all-be-all of reviews.

@rawkstar007 Tom is a very strange individual. There is no denying that. As long as i've been listening to him and following him, i tend to get the impression that he enjoys being different.

If you want to question his credibility based on any facts he's giving, then by all means - kick him in the balls and spit in his face and tell him he's wrong IF he's wrong. But if he's saying he didn't like something because of X or that he loved something because of Y, then all you can do is acknowledge he has an opinion and offer your opinion as a counter argument if you don't agree.

@chicknfeet @rawkstar007 @KBABZ I'm not saying that he has to be in agreement with other critics. I'm simply saying that he is never in agreement with other critics. Isn't that strange? One would think that professional critics would be in agreement at least SOME of the time. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day, right?

If we can never question his credibility, then he has the best job security in the world. Even more so than a U.S. government worker.

,it's because of story evolving back and forth and qtes(that's why different reviews).it can be annoying but story is great.people need to realize this game is in a different genre, heavily based on story that can change with decent gameplay, good ost and emotional moments.you better rate this game for what it can do in it's genrea not

I've seen a couple of different reviews, but what no one can deny is that Beyond: Two Sould lacks something that all other games have: the ability for the player to determine what is going on. All action sequences are predetermined and all you do is hit a button to "finish" the move. I can seriously understand very well why people would shun a game like this. Particularly those that enjoy player freedom or an engaging combat system. BTS has none of that, nor does it try to be a game like that.

BTS , may have a strong story, but I found the demo to be confusing and lacking in gameplay mechanics. Confusing probably because I was constantly expecting that I could decide what to do, which I couldn't. The oddest part was that I could play the demo without pressing any buttons sometimes resulting in me getting hit and hurt most of the time, but still being able to continue. It almost felt like it didn't really matter whether I pressed a button or not.

I do like Ellen Page a lot, and I do think I will "play" the game. But it's more like you're taking part in a movie and the worst thing about it is it is implemented in a way that is neither engaging nor satisfying. So let's be honest, the game is not for everyone. with BTS you're along for the ride, and depending on whether you want to watch a movie and sometimes press a few buttons or whether you want to play a game will ultimately determine if the game is for you.

@TechSin I wrote a version of these comments on the IGN site; I'll write an expanded version here. If you think B2S choices and control inputs don't matter, try these:

- Have Jodie fail every QTE as she runs the "Black Sun" gauntlet. Note the ending. Compare it to any Beyond or Life ending.

- As Aiden, choose a violent or passive approach in "Like Other Girls," and choose which way Aiden acts in "The Dinner." Note either's effect on "The Dinner" ending,

- Fail to complete any or all of the rescues in "Homeless" and "Navajo." Note the subsequent game endings.

- Examine the requirements for the "A Better World" and "Saved All" trophies. Earn them (if you choose to). Note the game endings.

- Fail the ritual in "Navajo."

Now, here's where role playing comes in. If you're consistent with your character concepts for Jodie and Aiden, then your player control inputs drive the endings. Even if you just randomly make inputs--or make none at all--the endings change.

Some say the endings are just shuffled cut scenes. But those cut scenes--who's in them, and which future is shown-- represent the choices Jodie and Aiden made, and what the results are. The player makes those choices via control inputs. The player must extrapolate links between their control inputs and Jodie's fate, and the future.

I'm not going to discuss narrative structure, character development, thematic flow, or variations in Aiden's power--this post is long enough already.

I understand completely why many gamers and critics dislike B2S. But many negative critiques aren't borne out in reality if players simply pay attention and use their imagination in the game. But yes, as Henry James said, "There is no substitute for the liking." If you just don't like the game, then that's that.

Actually the game is good! Is interactive drama like heavy rain and i like it. I found funny how people complain about the gameplay, story and etc even if they don't even play it lol. The demo is awful but the full game it is really good. And the score in metacritic is almost a 8 and gamespot gave a 9 so what is the issue here? It is because is playstation exclusive lol.
