The problem with motion controls right now is that there's no feedback. You'd be swinging at air wildly and there won't be any satisfaction. Especially with the kinect, "you are the controller" I can't see this being any fun. Motion controls remain gimmicky to me.
The new dashboard sucks balls. They need to improve it alot. I know voice command is there but still they could improve it alot for those who dont have the kinect. And freaking ads wtf those are annoying
just combine the kinect with normal controller, i think it would be great
YES! Xbox needs many more exclusives
If only Microsoft made a handheld system....
In terms of gaming, I'd take 3DS or a Vita rather a Windows Phone.
I prefer a handheld. Especially since handhelds are gaining more content, like the PSVista has touch screen, like the iPhones and iPods.
I'd rather have my iPhone than a handheld gaming system. my phone can do everything a DS or a sony vista whatever and then some.
Not a bad interview i guess.

@raev92 i agree with you completely, phones DO NOT compete with handhelds
This is going to be a great game. too bad I dont have an xbox...ps3 over here..
Glad to see that Phil understands that the Xbox does have a lack of first party strength/third-party exclusive strength. Sure, he put it very, very, VERY nicely. But at least its something they're aware of and with a brand new IP coming out in Ryse, I hope they keep pushing that. Hint: Bring back old franchises. A new Crimson Skies game would be awesome. Or even make a nice new Blinx game and I'll buy it.

I wonder if Phil Spencer is aware of GameSpot's assessment of Microsoft's Press Conference.
Man, Magrino looks fleshier now - not that I mind. :P
@rusty2win57 Because Mass Effect 3 will have Kinect voice support! They announced this in the MS press conference! Have you watched it?
In Kinect We Trust.
NO... phones do NOT compete with handhelds...
Question for Gamestop. Why is this game tagged for Mass Effect 3???
@reggies_world yes but for how long. i dont have a thing against kinect until it impedes my ability to experience a game the way i want (ie old school)
I can't for the life of me, see what the big fuss about xbox games going forward, being kinect enabled. if you don't want to play with kinect;don't. you still the option of going old school, just saying.
Make Kinect Secondary And Core Primary
Phil Spensor is a "Microcrap" lap dog....LAME. That being said, somebody has to create, produce, and market (R&D), so until someone else emerges (Apple ?) to kick their arse (SONY is sliding), then we're stuck with them. Next generation? Better be 3D and hologram projection.....lol.
They better not make Halo 4 for the Kinect.
Since gaming is my first and foremost hobby, i want to play actual games, not make a flurzy alien doll prance around and tell my aunt she can do it to. I'm also in the middle of the curve, which means i probably spend more money on it than those who are more to the sides. As usual i'm not impressed by marketing folk who talks about what 'will' happen in the near future. As in most houses where a xbox WITH internet connection is present, i do have a pc, so why would i want bing on my xbox or do pc-stuff on inferior (dare i say almost outdated?) hardware ? So far i'm not impressed with kinect. I bought it few months after release here in belgium. The games bundled with it on start were crap (adventures is a great workout but as far as games go it's a near to zero dud, fighters uncaged has absolute lousy controls) your shape is a great workout as well, but when it comes to fun ... same ... kinect sports was fun for a bit, but not really all that exciting. If it weren't for Mortal Kombat 9 (who, thank you microsoft for such great business strategy, totally ripped off xbox 360 players by having one less playable char) and the by now classic Tekken 6 i think i might have sold my xbox already, kinect and all. All these lame avatar tricks might be cool to the iPhone crowd, but to gamers (like me) who want to play games , not just buy the next hype they are boring, uninteresting and really NOT impressive. I (personally) don't like 3rd person shooters (i guess i dont get off on my avatar's sexy polygons as most people do) and i dont like playing fps on consoles since no matter what you say, mouse interface on pc is more responsive AND faster, try doing a 135 degree turn joypad vs. mouse and see who gets it first. I did buy halo reach tho since its m$ xbox flagship and i DO like a good story and an immersive environment. This is where i think kinect might come in (for pc-first gamers like me) : to make fps games more responsive on consoles, question is, is kinect fast and precise enough, cos from what games i've played so far i would think it is definitely not, up to m$ to prove it is. I still have some hopes for star wars kinect (maybe Haunt, project draco, rise of nightmares, and this Ryse thing 'looks' cool on trailer as well) and the kinect dev-kit for pc (i'd prefer to buy any of these games for my superior pc-hardware, as i will do with alice : madness returns, if the game turns out to be good unlike the last tennis game that got rated lousy kinect control on almost all site, wtf m$??!? let sony beat you with your own stick lol) but i'm not waiting to see more done-before un-impressive, could do with a webcam kind of tricks they try to baffle the general public with. There's also this little bit where they sell you this poker game on live (which is great fun, i admit that) but you cant even get all the achievements done unless you're physically living in the US (like WTF? is my money not money M$? ), that was an epic fail and a huge slap in the face for european customers i might conclude. I'm not selling it yet tho, it wouldnt be worth the little money you get for it on second hand. It's still fun for playing from the lazy seat or from my bed on the big 50" plasma screen (by the way : add me on xbox live : shadowshnull) I recently read that the average age of gamers today is 37, that puts me at my peak :p, i expect to be reckoned with, as do many of my commiitones who feel games are allowed to hone skills, both mentally and physically, while being entertaining in the meantime. I got an internet full of free and flash-stuff, and if i wanna go reall easy and mindless or just have a good laugh, i turn on tv and watch some political news ... that's like, well, more my 10 dollars than my 10 cents, considering the money i put into this so called xbox experience the 9,90 won't make a lot of difference in my wallet

i don't think Kinect and Halo 4 mix well.
When the Kinect Zoom comes out i will be definatly buying the kincet, plus it will be alot cheaper for me as well.
So that means the next Xbox or whatever is going to have built in Kinect functionality. I really hope some developer comes out with a game that is really amazing for Kinect in the near future that really blows everyone away because the idea behind Kinect is really cool. And his point about phones makes sense. The phone business is a huge part of Microsoft's future plans especially since they announced a partnership with Nokia for Windows phones, and playing games on the phone is a pretty big part of its use. So guess Microsoft doesn't want to release a handheld due to the large overlap of markets.
This guy is obviously very smart and well spoken. Enjoyed this informative video....

I guess after watching this I can kind of understand Microsoft's interest in pursuing Kinect use. It really could add more to gameplay. And games don't have to be completely controlled with the Kinect, but features of the system such as voice recognition or motion control could add more to a game to make it a more immersing experience. I guess when you think of Kinect as an extension of the 360, it could be promising.
