@ArabrockermanX Look at their "concept" videos. The first, which is the most telling regarding graphics (the one with the bird) looks nice, no doubt, but it's not that technically impressive relative to the PS3/360/PC. I saw dynamic lighting, bump-mapping, HDR, and HQ textures. The feathers and flowers utilized some type of physics processing, and everything looked like it has some AA. First of all, a tech demo is always very graphic specific, meaning just because the hardware can render that scene doesn't mean that is the bar for a full game. You aren't taking into account the gameplay mechanics, real-time physics calculations, NPC AI, etc. The PS2 has dynamic lighting, bump mapping, and even HDR (although I think it was simulated), as well as some light AA. If I were to choose which the tech demo was closest to, I'd pick the PS2. Check God of War 3 videos in HD, especially regarding the fights on the titans. Those high resolution close-up textures (when you're playing on the titan's back) are also found on ALL the other surfaces. In the bird demo, background objects (other trees, the gazeebo thing, and the non-closeup tree branches/trees had less detailed textures and lower-poly count. The bird and fish, the most highly detailed objects, looked a little better than say, the Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus. Feathers/fur, high-res, detailed textures and specular maps are in both the game on the PS2 and this tech demo.
(cont'd)Also, the flowers on the background trees were all 2-D sprites. Games use 2D sprites for leaves, but again this is a tech demo, which should utilize the full power of a machine. A tech demo on the PS3 or PC would easily be able to generate 3D polygonal flowers on those trees (look at FlOwer on PS3, from what, 2 years ago? All 3D foliage.). Also, non-volumetric "fog" over that pond in the beginning, as well as low-poly trees in the beginning are another tell. The only thing that the WiiU has over the PS2 is "1080p output." And until they specify if that is TRUE 1080p output (witch is mostly only a PC-achievable feat), 720p upscaling (like the PS3 and 360), or 480p upscaling (like a DVD upscaler) remains to be seen. I could pick apart and compare everything, but suffice it to say, my eyes are just fine. I'd like to add, graphics aren't everything to me, the gameplay is. I've been a long-time Nintendo supporter and I own all the consoles as well as my gaming PC, and play on all of them (some more than others). I'm just not going to blindly support an unproven product (especially after the Wii let me down) simply due to what is a glorified accessory. All they showed us was (according to Reggie) "a first pass." What that means is, it was all "potential" and "possible", not guaranteed. I'm not buying into this until I see the actual games, both at launch, and after.
I didn't leave Nintendo until the N64 came out. When they announced they would not release Mother 3 in the US that turned mw away from the system. The handhelds were still awesome though!
The start of the video was so awkward to watch. The translator was being a total tard by speaking over the Shig , he should wait for shig to say a bit, then say his bit taking in turns to speak like very other translator does. This was painful to listen to :S Fire that douchebag imo.
Why does everyone think that the name is going to be the downfall of the console? I kinda think that the games and the hardware is a wii (pun) more important.
Nintendo quite possibly has the PR team in the world. First there's "Wii". Now it's "Wii U" Sounds like "Pee you" Because their stupid names stink. For $50 I could do better than them. They really need someone who knows English to do their Western names.
@Wild_Card, while i disagree with sony doing better, I 100% agree with almost everything else. Being a gamer who invested in the Wii feels like Ninty just up and abandoned us. And same, I'll definitely not be pre-ordering a Wii U. Ninty has lost my trust, as my Wii has sat unused since I unlocked everything in Smash, and until there are at least a dozen third party games I know I'll both play and enjoy, Ninty isn't getting a penny out of me.
i hope the wiiU "hate the name" has a much better core game line up than the wii had. Looks like there off to a fair start with assasains creed and batman AC. But i'll be waiting awhile after its out and see how steady the supply of AAA class core games are. i dont want another console were there is a year or more of all but nothing *I* want to play. While i hated the wii i still call my self a nintendp fan. iv had all there consoles sence the NES minus the V.B. so i REALLY want to see them regain the type of gamers that i include my self in. i know hard core is a bad word to some fanboys but for lack of a better term . Any way good showing by ninty. id say a solid B. i would like to have heard a price point on the wiiu and im still not sold on the controller. they left a LOT of unawnserd quastions. so M$ gets a C, sony i gave a B+ and ninty gets a B. all in all a pretty good E3 showing.
This preview really rules :)) The power of the new wii seems to fit perfectly the current technology, the tech demo with bird, trees, river and fish rules any existing game console, same for zelda demo A few month ago i was very skeptical about the new controller, but the first tech demos reveal a real revolution, too bad nintendo didnt give his childish mii ;) Great to see that all majors game makers are going to support it equaly as other consoles, lets hope they will do specific dev using the specific power of the cpus, gpu and controler
@Got2stoned you have got to be the most irritating troll I've ever seen. Ok you dont like nintendo we get it once was more than enough we dont need 7 comments of you saying the same thing. Im posting this comment to praise the Wii U. Once again they're leading the way in video game systems. Yes im sure microsoft and sony are going to come out with something similer and perhaps better to some, but honestly think about it who had the idea first? Nintendo. They were also the first ones to come up with motion sensors in consoles with the Wii. So to nintendo I say, keep blazing the trail video games and bring us into the future, like you've been doing since 1985
@Takashi_Dragon HD is hardly a bandwagon! Kinect and Move is jumpin on a bandwagon! HD is a natural evolution for movies, TV and games! You gonna tell Fox or the BBC there years behind?? No.... why! Because until HDTV hit reasonable prices nobody was really that interested!
Try not to get too hyped up though. We know what what happened to the 3DS, Nintendo saw the hype and priced it at $250, who knows how high they could price the Wii U. Even if you like it, just pretend you don't. :) Shhhhh. don't tell Nintendo. :P
