Hope that they have more than 2 fatalities for each character, regarding the fact that they already revealed 2 of Kung Lao's fatalities. If not, I'm kool with it because it's f'in Mortal Kombat and they can do whatever they want as long as they keep it up. *Fingers crossed for more fatalities XD*
Wow Gamespot. Keep it classy, saying that my comment doesn't qualify to be displayed because I didn't gush over how "cool" the new MK was? Really? So is that where we are at now? I guess I've been "Gerstmann'd". I guess Gamespot only wants positive comments to stroke developers egos instead of people who keep it 100 and say what they really feel.
I like what i see. ALOT. But I hope that they didn't forget about a Conquest type mode just because they decided to do an "old school" Mortal Kombat. I'm from the early nineties coin op days and back then it was different because to get the best graphics, gore, and gameplay YOU HAD to go to the arcade and wait in line. Now, it's there for you all the time at home and if there isn't a Conquest mode then it won't matter how "old school" this is because it will get repetitive really quick. Even with the option of online play because of cheesers. If you cheesed at the arcade you either got called every name in the book by everyone watching or you got your ass beat.
@Dman4Life1217 What's funny is that they actually did do a significant amount of research on all the fighting styles. Check out the extras in Deadly Alliance for video demonstrations of many of them. The problem with the 3D fighters was that there really was no reason to ever sidestep - the moves generally had wide attack arcs, so you'd get hit anyway. Deception tried to alleviate this with the stage weapons and fatalities, but those were trivially easy to avoid for any decent player. I liked it anyway. Deception had a nice balance between dials and juggles and was overall a dramatic improvement over Deadly Alliance. It's a shame that Armageddon sacrificed quality for quantity. And MK vs DC had really awkward controls thanks to its attempt to reintegrate the jumping, and pretty much felt like the rush job that it was. Anyway, I think this looks great. Lots of juggle-based combos and a return to more of an aerial game, something that was also sacrificed in the 3D games.
Ever since I saw the first trailer for this game I've been waiting to see the full fatality for Kung Lao, and I damn sure wasn't dissappointed LOL Good Lord, this game better be good, cause if it sucks then some very ill fatalities will be wasted on s****y gameplay LOL
I'm sorry, but this is kinda lame. It seems that rather than do a 3D fighter the correct way, and improve upon the 3D games, they retreated and took a huge step backwards and just re-skinned Mortal Kombat Trilogy and made a 2.5D game. I mean, the problem with MK's 3D games, were that they attempted to take the static and preset dial combos from the old 2D MK games, and apply them to a fully 3D space. If you're going to make a 3D fighter, with real fighting styles, then you should go the DOA, Tekken, or Virtua Fighter route, and make the moves flow, and research the styles in depth to do them justice. This just shows a lack of originality, or drive to make a great game, and instead falling back on nostalgia with a re-skin and some slightly new features.
