Diablo 3 On Switch - 11 Minutes Of Docked Gameplay | PAX West 2018

Diablo III: Eternal Collection is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Here's some direct capture gameplay from PAX West 2018.

With the coming release of Diablo 3 on Switch later this fall, Blizzard's action-RPG game will not only make its debut on a Nintendo console, but it will also mark the first time the series will be playable on the go. Prior to Gamescom, we had the opportunity to go hands-on with the game, and learned from the developers about what went into the making of this special port. Known as the Eternal Collection, the Switch release of Diablo 3 offers the most complete version of the console edition, along with some surprise exclusives for its release on Nintendo's platform.

In the video above, we spent some time with the game at PAX West 2018 playing in its docked mode. Developed by Blizzard, in collaboration with Iron Galaxy, the Eternal Collection features the same content from the most current PS4 and Xbox One releases of the game, including many of its innovations that make it stand out from the PC version. However, getting the game to run on the Switch proved to be a unique challenge for the developers, who wanted to ensure that the game ran at a consistent and smooth pace.

Running at 960p resolution and at 60fps in docked mode, and at 720p while in the handheld mode, the developers stated that it took some time and careful programing into getting the game into shape for its debut on the Switch. While the game has seen a noticeable downgrade in terms of textures, the action and performance for its loot-focused gameplay is still on par with its PS4 and Xbox One counterparts. With the upcoming release on Switch, Diablo 3: Eternal Collection will be a solid way for long-time fans and newcomers alike to experience Blizzard's action-RPG in a more unique way.
