Destiny 2: How Does Free-To-Play Change The Game?

New Light is Destiny 2's new free-to-play version of the game, offering the base experience and the first two mini expansions. But how exactly does New Light work for new players, and what are the differences from the original launch experience?

October 1 marked a big day for Destiny 2. It saw the release of Shadowkeep expansion and the Season of the Undying, the first of four seasons that will comprise Year 3 of Bungie's MMO shooter. But it also saw the launch of New Light, a new, free-to-play version of Destiny 2 that includes a surprisingly extensive amount of content. You can play not only much of the first year of content, but also numerous other bits of content added since, like Gambit. Better yet, you can even visit the moon, the new location added in Shadowkeep. And when you first start out, you'll be taken back to the first quest from the original Destiny before undertaking a series of steps to help you get up to speed.

But how exactly does free-to-play work? Check out the video above for a full breakdown of New Light.
