I have a lot of memory with this game .
One of the most exclusive monopolies of Sony
I think they need to get Demons' Souls the remaster treatment, but not just a fresh coat of 4K paint- I think they need to add stuff to an already amazing game.
@mighty-lu-bu: Yeah would be nice, but other than adding 6th world, adding few more items, making farming easier and rebalancing magic, I wouldn't want them to go out too much and ruin the game.
All the more reason for it to finally come to PC and use Steamworks for online service.
Come on Sony, stop being dicks.
How about Dark Souls 2 while allowing you to jump NORMALLY? Who was the imbecile at From Software that said you had to make a running effort before you jumped all of the time? I mean even Mario doesn't have to do that! Dark Souls 2 should never have been made.
@regix416_basic: That thing is the same as in DS1, in DS1 you must make a run before jumping too. I actually think DS2 is better than DS1.
They should do a remake bundle of demon's souls and dark souls 1 for the new generation. Awesome games, i would play em again for sure
@jfracchia: I'm all for that. I only wish Demon's Souls' online wasn't going away... but I rarely ever used it...
Used like 100 hours in this game. Bloodborne is better tho.
This is one game that defied expectations, I remember buying it used from the flea market:) someone else was there before me and hesitated to buy it, they had one copy, if only you can see his face when I bought it, it was full of regret, he was really disappointed, it was funny ;)
@Abdulrahman1981: ahahahaha xd
I kept watching this and wondering, "How the hell does he take so little damage?", "He should've died from that?!", "Why didn't more Red Phantoms spawn there?" and stuff like that, then I've realized I've played unpatched game and pushed world tendency into Pure Black before even getting to 1st boss lol
Does the Pro actually make Demon's Souls look better? So there's no plans on this being ported to the PC?
@regix416_basic: Ehh.. It's not a PS4 game.
@LasDK: I know it's not a PS4 game. I was hoping they would've upped it to PS4 standards though... or at least given it a HD overhaul.
@regix416_basic: It's already on the PC, in glorious 4K. It looks amazing too. Check out RPCS3 Demon's Souls.
@bfa1509: Where? Who has it? Steam sure as hell doesn't have it. I think you're wrong about that. Perhaps you're confusing that with Dark Souls?
@regix416_basic: He is talking about emulation. And it's not flawless. Many PS3 games can be emulated with RPCS3, but pretty much all of them run worse than PS3 and even crashes or has audio issues.
@bfa1509: That's something I never knew. We ARE talking DEMON'S Souls and not Dark Souls RIGHT?
Demon's Souls is ONLY for the PS3. HOW did he get a PC copy? I thought so... ONLY by using a PS3 emulator. ~_~ Well, I'm dashed. Is it hard to get a PS3 emulator working on your PC? I barely use my PS3 anymore...
@regix416_basic: You can get it to work. It takes a pretty good PC tho and most games will have bugs and issues.
Newer quad core i7's, even with massive overclock, can't run Persona 5 smoothly. If you are lucky you will see 15-20 fps, with stutter and huge fps dips at times. Gamebreaking bad performance in most emulated games.
There's some areas in the games that run decent (typical these will be recorded for YouTube video's) while other areas are unplayable or close.
Emulation is rarely flawless.
@LasDK: Well, thankfully I thought they said something about P5 being ported to the PC sometime next year so that'll work better than emulating it.
@regix416_basic: Nah the "Project" was shut down.
@bfa1509: Amazing game , glad you got to play it on the PC :) . This was my favourite of all the Souls games by far.
How could Eric have missed this gem up until now though?
@deviltaz35: I actually played it on PS3. It truly is an amazing game.
It isn't quite ready on the pc yet. But I can't wait.
@bfa1509: I doubt it will hit PC. You need to emulate it with RPCS3. If your PC can handle it..
This was the second best souls game. It's a real pity it's going offline as the online element was far better than all but Dark Souls. Also, it's a pity since its just about ready to be emulated.
@bfa1509: 2nd best? what would be the best. In my opinion, Demon's Souls is the best souls game. The level of refinement in this game is on par with Kojima development. Hit a wall with a weapon in this game vs any of the following reiterations - and you will understand. ie: Dark Souls III you can be hit directly through stone pillars - this would be blasphemy in Demon's Souls.
Also: flying manta rays - nothing as interesting has since been imagined in the soul's series.
Also: there was an easy way of beating every single enemy / situation w/o assistance in Demon's Souls. I can't say the same about any of the following games.
Also: I'm assuming because it was made solely for PS3, developed for the cell processor, it looked better than DS or DSII to boot.
Also: I disagree the comments that it is not as fair as the other souls games. It is more fair, as there is a way to beat everything easily - you do have to figure it out however. It is puzzle solving combat.
@nhwilber: I really agree with most of the stuff you've said, especially the fairness part, like... only real unfair moment in the game was when 2 red phantom fat minsters spawn in Pure Black WT in 1-3. Compare that to DS1's archers (not Anor Londo's, even tho that is unfair as hell, but regular whose arrows have tracking slapped onto them), or bosses getting invincible frames for no reason (ei Snorlax -_-).
However you're wrong with hitting through walls, it's possible in Demon's Souls too. I would actually use it from time to time and around/through corners too.
@unikat: don't ruin my biased memories! lol
I just remember getting killed in Demon's in tight corridors b/c my slash attack hit the wall - which was not really an issue in any of the following games - you could just magically swing right through.
I never really dealt with world tendency. The only part I never figured out a fairly simple solution for was the dual gargoyles - hard as nails every play through. :)
Biggest difference between Demon's and DSI and II, was that your best bet for Demon's was a jack of all trades build IMO, as the "best solution" varied - magic, ranged, fire, sharp, blunt, etc. With DSI and II your best PVE build was "smashthar" (str build + jump smash attack) - hands down the best solution for essentially every situation (again - IMO). If you went with any other build, the solution was: summon Smashthar.
By the time we get to BB and DSIII, the best solution became: summon help, spam the "o" button, as it was too tedious to get to the boss and get killed 40 times trying to figure out when the .3 second stun windows were.
The writing was on the wall when the reviews for Demon's Souls came out and everyone was talking about how difficult it was. I think From Software ran with this and focused on PVP and making the series really hard, as opposed to focusing on interesting enemies and solution based PVE scenarios of Demon's Souls.
@nhwilber: Actually you're wrong again lol Playing through DS1 and DS2 (actually played few hours ago too) with both Spears and Greatswords I've had incidents where I'd hit the wall, sometimes it goes through wall while at other times it doesn't for some reason, the most annoying to me was when spear would hit the wall, while my character has his back turned towards the same wall and standing next to it.
But as I've said, I agree with most of your sentiments, and I do with new ones too, I find Demon's Souls level design, boss encounters and overall balance of everything a lot better (well... other than magic which is broken ofc). 2 really bad things about Demon's Souls were 1-3 boss run, and since Penetrator was actually harder than Penetrator 2.0 (read: Artorias), running through all those enemies, was hell. 2nd is 4-2 boss run, luckily that boss isn't hard at all... well 1-4 wasn't a cakewalk either, but it wasn't that hard of a run.
Actually this stream above has shown how series has devolved since Demon's Souls actually, despite all the additions they've made. Which is why I still find it better than DS1 and DS2 (didn't play DS3 and Bloodborne yet).
I do think that Demon's PvP is actually among better if not the best in the series too. Despite Scraping Spear fun lol.
On side note... I hate it how in Dark Souls you're quite often stopped by knee high obstacles, which you could've actually climbed in Demon's Souls X_x
@nhwilber: Well said it is the clear winner in the Souls franchise.
@bfa1509: Demons' Souls had a much better online than Dark Souls. It was almost impossible to connect with friends in Dark Souls because they used multiple servers. In Demons' Souls, there was just one server where everyone could connect. That being said, I do believe they fixed this issue in Dark Souls II, but I could be wrong. Anyways, Demons' Souls is the best Souls game in my opinion because it offered the best world, best characters, arguably best story, and best boss battles.
@mighty-lu-bu: Good points. I felt though that the online in Demon's Souls was almost reduced to whoever had the most grass would win.
One things for sure, Demon's souls probably had the most solid combat of all the souls games, probably even more precise than Dark Souls.
@bfa1509: I have to agree with you regarding the combat because Demons' Souls was top notch. Other games added stuff, but I felt like the newer games over complicated an already great system.
