Darksiders 3 Gameplay Shows How Much Like Dark Souls The Series Has Become

Darksiders 3's release date is fast approaching, so take a look at some fresh gameplay.

After a six-year absence, the Darksiders series is due to return later this year with Darksiders III for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The threequel is being developed by Gunfire Games, a studio that contains many employees of the series' creator, Vigil Games, after it was shut down following THQ's bankruptcy. Despite this, Darksiders III is a very different game to the ones that came before it.

As you can see in the video above, the game is much slower than before, with fewer but tougher enemies littering each environment. The connected world and slower combat has much in common with the Dark Souls series, or even God of War.

Darksiders III's release date has been set for November 27. It follows Fury, who's one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and sibling to War and Death, the stars of the first two games in the series. Her mission is to take down the Seven Deadly Sins, which she's hoping to accomplish using an array of magic attacks and her deadly whip.
