Agreed on so many levels. Only one here I haven't played is Dragon Age.
....aaaaaaand that's only because I'm trying to get my Hunter to 30 in Destiny. Because the Warlock was so two months ago.

Great list Chris! Looks like I really have to play Wolfenstein now.
The Last of Us was truly and amazingly immersive game. There were some other great titles this year, Mordor, GTA, Dragon Age, Alien, Far Cry, etc some great titles. However, Destiny is an abomination.
OMG he doesn't have the same top five as me *cry* *cry*... smh
These people who keep on moaning about Destiny are like a broken record, nobody cares.

Destiny in a top 5 list? OMG...
@LordCrash88 I love people for exactly that reason. Its boring to think they should agree with my opinions.
3 from 5 is overhyped trash chris :D

Hey Chris, what was your least favourite game of the year?
@justbefahad @Whisperblue Exactly; My favorite game of all time scored a 5 average on gamerankings.com. That was before I started looking to reviews sites before making purchases, I just used my gut instinct for what I was craving to play atm. I wish I'd never made checking reviews a habit but I cant lie they got me hooked as I always check nowadays.
I've been wanting to play left behind but the price tag is way too high. $15? Are they joking? I remember thinking that very same thought about Journey.
4 reviewers... still no Bayonetta 2. "Perfect 10"... sure.
@Whisperblue The review was Mark Walton a.k.a Captain Bayonetta's own personal opinion. Reviews are really just opinion pieces here on GS, perhaps everywhere, because we're all different, and what might rock for one may not rock for someone else.
@justbefahad @Whisperblue Well the scores become associated with the website and it is forever a part of what they feel about a game. It's written in stone. I seriously doubt they see their reviews are merely "opinion pieces."
@Whisperblue They need to stop out sourcing reviews.
@Kevin-V @Cloud_imperium I'm a big fan of Lord of the Rings. Sadly Shadows of Mordor didn't make me have that feeling of being in Middle Earth. I'm still waiting for an Open World Lord of the Rings game ala Skyrim that ties all the 3 lord of the Rings movie together.
I'm loving these videos so far. It's really great seeing these guys talk passionately about games they love. So refreshing. No need to be impartial, or unbiased, they can just talk freely and get everything off they're chest about why they love playing these games.Good work Gamespot! Hope to see more stuff like this in the future!
@Zarkhaine That's what I liked about the, I forgot the name :), umm the audio show they used to do, but it was video too just them sitting around the mics talking. What I really enjoyed about that was how much disagreement or alternate perspective you got to hear, as opposed to most of the site content has a more official feel where they kinda can't really go against each other much, or have to be polite to devs :).

Oh so this is where DLC winning PS3 game of the year came from.
I like how Chris Watters his garden.

@Tribesmaster Well played. :)
@Martyr77 It certainly lived up to the hype. You should try it out someday, its on PC too, lots of fun!
@JohnyMyko @Kevin-V @anne_1230 I don't mean GS pick bad games. More in the sense that given some possible choices, all of them being defendable/deserving/possible in some way, GS tend to go with the less popular/less obvious pick that make them stand out among all game sites' choices. I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing either.
And I don't mean this particular GOTY, more like a general trend among recent years? They tend to be different than other sites.
@anne_1230 Red Dead Redemption in 2010 and Skyrim in 2011. That was generally agreed upon.
Beautiful ending to the video, Chris. :)
I actually did like Wolfenstein, then again I have soft spot for that series. The Last of Us goes without saying and I'm still debating if I want to play DA: inquisition. Destiny and Titanfall I can live without.
Damn, so much unneeded hate in this comment section. It's just their personal favorites, deal with it.Anyway, I really enjoy the way Chris always defends Left Behind. He completely gets it and it's even more impressing/interesting because it comes from someone with a FPS-heavy favorites list.
@JohnyMyko Yeah, its interesting to see how much hate Chris attracted just because listed hyped up FPSs in his Top 5. People don't realize that some people, in fact a lot of people, enjoy these kinds of games and there's nothing wrong with that. It really shows what has become of our community, hating on someone that doesn't agree with the mainstream opinions.
I was really glad to see Dragon Age and Left Behind on Chris's list, especially Left Behind. I haven't played TLoU Remastered for about 2 months now, too busy with the new stock of games, but watching him talk about it in such a warm manner made me put that disc back in and experience it all again. :)
@Kevin-V @UltimateBastard @trugs26 i would like to see that list. Bayonetta 2 I heard it's quite good,, but since i don't own the console can't really say if i would place it on top. But it's possible, since I loved the first one. A shame it's an exclusive.
@JohnyMyko Oh, there's enough controversy. Biggest was picking SoM not only overall GOTY, but XB1 & PS4 GOTY as well, which many people thought was not deserving. XB1's fantastic exclusives like Sunset OD and Forza Horizon 2 were not even nominated, and few people accepted SoM as an overall GOTY. I didn't agree with it either, but I respect opinions, so I didn't make a fuss out of it.
Wolfenstein was an absolute gem, needs much, much more attention. Also really liked Titanfall, still play it almost daily a couple matches. Great mp and sp only FPS's, these two really show why it's clearly better to just focus on one of the two and not waste time on other things, they can just focus on the stuff that the team is good at and what they're actually aiming to do with the game.
@Stebsis I thought Titanfall did not have an SP Campaign?
@justbefahad @Stebsis That's what I meant, other is great sp only and other is great mp only fps.
@Stebsis Oh, sorry. I did not understand the sentence properly. I agree, Titanfall is great MP fun, I haven't played Wolfenstein yet though.
I'll buy the last of us remastered on boxing day it is official. Chris you sold me... Cheers!
Got a beef with Chris' picks? Settle it in Smash!
@Stesilaus That is the funniest comment of the day. Well played sir. Thank you for the laugh!
I thought it was a great list. I like that at least someone on Gamespot appreciates Destiny and what it's really good at, and Titanfall was by far my favorite FPS of the year. Expected Inquisition, but overall love the list.

4 Editors have picked their choices and still none of them has Shadow of Mordor as their top 5, a game that won GOTY. Gamespot clearly needs to revise their policy about picking GOTY. So far it is not making sense.
@Cloud_imperium How DARE four people not like the game you liked as much as you did! Clearly, they needed to check with you before making their lists.

@Cloud_imperium Our video team, as well as our teams in the AU and UK, also made their voices heard. These lists are written by only a cross-section of the various people who contribute to our GOTY discussions, most of whom do not write a personal list.
@Kevin-V @Cloud_imperium Yet for a lot of viewers including myself, you and the other reviewers who have made personal lists ARE Gamespot :) You're the ones we want handing out the awards, because you guys are who we see and listen to on the site every day. The video team and other teams make the content happen, and that's awesome, but it's the reviewers' opinions we care most about.
@Kevin-V @Cloud_imperium Thanks for expanding on that, guess Mordor got a lot of love from those teams.
Yeah this is definitely a very chris list *cough*fps*cough* but it's nice to see how different staff have different genre/type of games they like. I think when it comes to personal lists the correct title really shouldn't be personal "top" 5, but a personal "favorite" 5 games of the year. I know there are games that I put in my personal favorite list but I would not call them the "best" (which is also why I think these personal list may very well not contain their final GOTY, although that is somewhat unusal I feel it not completely impossible)
That being said, I do feel like GS has a tendency to make controversial picks to generate debate and attention (sometimes a little deliberately)
@anne_1230 I haven't seen them making a controversial pick in both overall and personal lists. Even when they went with games I don't like I agreed with them.
@anne_1230 No. We choose games we think deserve the praise, though not without plenty of debate and arguments. (We are not a hive mind, after all.)
Surprised Destiny was on here
@RAPTOR-J Yeap... I bought the game day one... and haven't played it more then 4 hours... The gameplay is very very ok, but I paid a full price for a 40% finished game... :| I stopped watching after I saw Destiny is included, but in my honest opinion as a gamer... I would not mention Destiny as a game... I would teach Destiny to Marketing students: 'Look how you can sell sh nonfunctional cars to a price of a new Ferrari'...
