Yeah, nice to see that Microsoft plans to bore you suckers with a new GOW every year hahaha ! Meanwhile Sony gives us real exclusives !
Nice tee shirt Tom has on.
More importantly, we can only really speculate until we have some more news.. Gears 2 and 3 were really good. Judgement was hyped up but didn't really deliver.
What if they mix some of the events from the Gears story with the new one.. Tell the story of a not so famous yet very significant tale involving a new protagonist while Markus was all in your face with the locusts, or something more about Adam Fenix's story line.
I just have my fingers crossed!
@krishnaV_ they could do Emergence Day. A non linear time frame of the 1st days of the Human Locust war(maybe from a couple different perspectives). Introduce a couple new characters, throw in a couple fan favourite characters. I think it'd be cool
no gears is clunky.
I don't know how I feel about this. I love Gears 1 through 3 but I thought Judgement was horrible and just unplayable. I haven't been able to convince myself to finish that campaign.
@adrdeju wow that bad eh? I didn't realize the campaign was borderline un-playable
It really didn't feel like Gears to me. My bro felt the same way. Definitely not worth the 60 bucks I paid for it on launch, that's for sure.
I actually liked Baird, in the first 3 Gears. You should try the game. You can find it really cheap now. I'm curious to see what you think about it. It just doesn't feel like a Gears to me.
@adrdeju I strongly dislike baird, and as the main character...idk if I could handle that.
@adrdeju GS gave it a 7.5 and avg player score was 7.4, it must not have been too bad.
Though I've never played Gears before, I do know Tom's feeling. For all the greatness God of War has, that is one franchise I'd like to be put on hold so that Sony Santa Monica could work on something fresh.
I suppose that is the same feeling Gears players have right now. It is a new generation, this the prime time to introduce new ips and not to rehash old ideas with a slight bump in resolution.
@Toplinkar I would appreciate a new & fresh God of War coupled with a few new IPs to keep that star shinning in the video game industry.
I love Gears. Hopefully there will be HD remakes because I can't even really play the PC version anymore. It looks good, but last-gen moved really fast graphically. I'd like to see it to have real story like Mass Effect, possibly large open world(s) with co-op missions rather than just a roller coaster campaign and multiplayer. I like multiplayer, but I rarely have time to play it as often as I like.
@Kryptonbornson So you want the developers to completely change what made gears of war what it was. 1st:Gears had a very interesting story imo 2nd: Open worlds are tough in a game like gears. There has to be some linear progression through front lines and battlefields. 3rd: You could already play every aspect of the game in co-op(Campaign, Horde, Teammates in MP, etc)
@themc_7 @Kryptonbornson I'm aware Gears was fully co-op. I just meant open world co-op. I know this sounds silly, but I'm just throwing out ideas. The core gameplay to me is what made Gears. The story was serviceable to the gameplay and atmosphere, but Japanese games like Metal Gear go the extra step by putting story first and that only has the effect of making the game better. I found the universe charming, but it's only by part 2 do you start to realize the weaknesses in the storytelling structure when they want to bring out actual emotions and such.
@Kryptonbornson A real story, hmm? I think given the political structure and power of families, maybe Game of Thrones would be a closer parallel. The Pendulum Wars were between warring city-states after all, right?
@Chris_Watters @Kryptonbornson Okay, a real story like Game of Thrones. That'd be asking too much maybe for a shooter, but if Microsoft wanted to shoot for greatness, why not?
