Borderlands 3: Which Character Is The Right For Your Playstyle?

Not sure which Borderlands 3 character to roll with? We break down each one so you can pick the right play style for you in the PS4, Xbox One, and PC looter-shooter.

Borderlands 3 is the first game in the franchise to give its playable characters multiple action skills, providing never-before-seen freedom in how you want to loot and shoot. Even with this choice, however, each of the four characters push you to adopt one general play style. So of course, this begs the question: Which of Borderlands 3's Vault Hunters is right for you?

In the video above, video producer Jean-Luc Seipke talks through the strengths and weaknesses of each Vault Hunter--with a bit of help from associate editor Jordan Ramée, senior producer Aaron Sampson, and features editor Matt Espineli. Between the four of them, they've all spent a significant amount of time with Amara the Siren, Zane the operative, Moze the gunner, and FL4K the beastmaster. If you're still on the fence about which Vault Hunter you want to start with, they've got you covered.

Amara is a difficult Vault Hunter for first-time Borderlands players, as her three active skills and respective skill trees all encourage an aggressive close-quarters fighting style that can be difficult to do once flying enemies are introduced. Zane is a bamboozling expert who can utilize his holographic Digi-Clone and SNTNL drone to both teleport around the battlefield and set explosive traps. Titanfall fans will enjoy Moze, whose skills are designed to get her back into her Iron Bear mech as quickly as possible--where she can unload devastating damage. Finally, FL4K is specialized for players who prefer to hunt alone, as they possess skills geared towards self-sustainability and sniping.
