Don't know if this fits your criteria as this game came out Feb 27th of this year. But I just picked it up, "Into the Breach." It's a small strategy game by the creators of FTL. Only played it a little, but it's clever.

Thanks for this new series. Love being introduced to these new games. Still wrapping my mind around PC Simulator. Building and fixing PCs as you play this on your PC... augh, recursion to the nth degree! ;-) I felt the same way about the Sims, running their lives as I tried to run my own. Lol.

@Louis: As you might expect we're angling to cover the newest releases each week, but I friggen looooooove Into The Breach. It's still my top contender for Game of the Year so far.

I reviewed it when it came out! https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/into-the-breach-review-a-mechanized-masterpiece/1900-6416865/

@doorselfin: You're the one! Ha, I forgot how I had stumbled onto "Into the Breach" and you just reminded me, it was your review. My eyes caught the score of 9, so I wanted to see what rated so high. Immediately after reading it, I bought the game. Lol. I need to play it more, but yes it's addictive and a brilliant compact design. It really needs to be ported to mobile platforms too. Would love to play it on the go.

As someone who has played first Orwell, I didn't like the way its sequel was showcased here.

I kinda like first Orwell, but wasn't going to get its sequel. This video did nothing to change my mind, and not because I didn't like what I heard, but because I didn't hear anything relevant. I would have liked if there was a bit about how the sequel compares to the original. What's new, what's different, what's improved, what's gone?

While I like the way new games are showcased, I think that sequels need different approach that would attract both new and old players.

@xtraterry0: Sorry that we didn't manage to give you the info you needed! We intended it as a surface level gut-check to bring the game to the attention of readers who might have have heard about the series. But, you make some good points about how we should cover sequels.

We do have a more in-depth review of Orwell Season 2 here if you haven't already seen: https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/orwell-ignorance-is-strength-review-staunch-survei/1900-6416888/
