Geared at mainstream consumers, AMD's 500 series cards are slightly faster than their 400-series counterparts and are fairly priced

@pasullica: because the game engine is so poorly optimized its give a representation of the cards performance in a worst case scenario and the fact that most cards today still struggle with Metro, even in SLi keeps the tests relevant.

@gaminsincepong: PS5 would likely be much stronger than this card by the time it releases which is not likely before 2019 at the earliest.

@computernoises: Why? The 1070 is a far superior card, these things are rebranded rx480's with a little tweaking to grab a bit more performance. People have been able to flash their 480 bios with the 580's to get similar results.

@computernoises: 1070 will last you longer than a 580 though.

@computernoises: There are issues with Ryzen which is keeping the price down if you dig deep though it's probably not going to matter for gaming. At least not enough. There are reasons why Intel is the best at what they do though.

It is about time Nvidia stop this silly nonsense of releasing new drivers for every new AAA game that comes out though. If the card is meant to be that good then it should work great in every game without needing further changes to settings.

@computernoises: Not really my point though , it's more that they are making out that is required. I gave up ages ago on driver updates as i never saw any differences with framerates on a 980ti anyway. The only one i updated was if it said it included new features. In general i don't game on PC anymore if i can help it as i just don't like windows 10 despite being in the preview program from the start.

Thats a GTX 1060 for $189.99. Maybe give an edit, otherwise people would think you guys have a biased opinion.

@ekirito: In Doom GTX 1060 3Gb version performs worse than 1080ti which is a budget card by the way. So it all comes down to you either get RX 580 or go with 6gb version of GTX 1060 for future proof (which is about 3yrs for me).

@pied_piper: I don't think a $700 card is considered budget. Most builds online would call that high end. The only card more expensive is the Titan Xp.

Was reading today you can flash the rx480 with the rx580 bios to get the higher voltage and thus higher clock speed. Don't really recommend it unless your card has a dual bios(even then still probably not), but goes to show they are basically the same card.

@UltimateBastard: It's just rebadged though isn't it. There needs to be a law against releasing something rebadged as it is deliberately deceiving.

There are so many underhanded tactics from both sides these days.
