While he'd not been involved in his brand for a while (not surprising, I can only imagine he'd been in declining health for some time), it's undeniable that Tom Clancy and his Red Storm Entertainment studio have left behind a legacy that is indellible in gaming and film. Splinter Cell pretty much ruined MGS for me, it was just that superior, and even now the series remains the standard by which all military stealth games are judged.

He touched many people's lives, and he'll be missed. That said, it's sad he had to live JUUUUUST enough to see the country he clearly loved disintegrate before him.

I have so many things to say to this extraordinary person, but I believe I just made the right, compressed statement to GS News yesterday, so I comment it down below:

Tom Clancy. What a wonderful fellow. I do read almost all of his novels and books on modern warfare, watched the movie versions of those, played his games, and he has made me a Military Science Enthusiast and Historian. I owe him a lot since high school, he opened the Military Strategist and Tactician in me. He is a legend.

Tom Clancy is one of finest people in the world I look upon as inspiration, Eric Durschmied the other when limiting the topic into Military Science.

Thank you for being an inspiration to me and to other military science enthusiast and RTS-Military Action fans around the world. RIP Tom Clancy. I will never ever forget you. Thank you.

I like many of the films based on Clancy's books and the games have been great, I'm looking forward to Rainbow 6 Patriots whenever that resurfaces [I know it's been retasked to next gen] and I really look forward to The Division....

It's sad to see him go, he did have a major name in games books and movies which is pretty amazing, He'll be missed R.I.P. Tom Clancy.....

Damn, I'm gonna miss his original ideas. I loved every game with the name Tom Clancy on it. At the time I thought it was some kinda brand name. Well now I think his name is gonna be a brand name for the rest of the upcomming tactical shooters by Ubisoft. I just hope they maintain the realism.

The last game Tom Clancy really had any input in was Splinter Cell and maybe Pandora Tomorrow. Everything else is from Ubisoft.

He was a brilliant writer. Also, inb4 whiners.. He hasn't written for Ubisoft Tom Clancy games for a long while.. so don't blame him for those. He's still responsible for the good Tom Clancy games and he penned those.

Anyways, RIP Tom!

RIP Tom Clancy

I hate how new Splinter Cell games are story wise so unrealistic . Look at plot of Chaos Theory , which involves politics , assassinations and realism . Blacklist was good but it was just all Hollywood stuff .

This is the first time that I actually see Tom Clancy's real face.

You have made a series of great games possible Mr Clancy, the gaming world thanks you, and also the recently deceased father of Nintendo Hiroshi Yamauchi. You'll rest easy knowing that you died just before the possible future where Mario games starts to implement fps gameplay and becomes Call of Duty: Modern Mario.
