Trucks stick together like 2 magnets, cars slide all over the place like they are on glass instead of dirt, graphics are so-so at best, sounds are just horrible. Delay this and fix it if you can.

Square Enix should stick to what they know best. That game looks awful for todays standard in both graphics and driving physics.

Controls look floaty. Gives me The Crew kind of vibe. Will stick with DiRT and Forza.

@s7eventhheaven: developed or published? The only racing/rpg game made by squaresoft I can remember was Racing Lagoon for PS1.

@marcio_br: Driving Emotion Type-S . It was developed in 2000 by Escape which was owned by Square were it was co-produced by Shinji Hashimoto with music composed by Shinji Hosoe. Squaresoft published the game for playstation 2. Its pretty rare now.

Where's the arcade part of it? This looks like it falls in between the ass crack of sim racing fans and arcade racing fans. It's not sim-y enough for one crowd and it doesn't look or play anything like an arcade racer for the other crowd.

Game is not sim-racing, yet it fails hard on the arcade part also. The physics is unreal (my god look at those rubber wall collisions), the models look dry, the control and car motions are stiff, bad weathers and outdated effects, unimpressive sounds, pretty generic HUD. Even if it is in final state it could be worse than The Crew. Square Enix should focus on the genres they are best at, if they really want to take a bet with racing, invest and make the developing team try harder, be more creative.

Not really impressed.

Also, you wouldn´t race like that on a track with so much grass on it. But i do like the rainy street part.

Overall: won´t buy, i´ll stick with Gran Turismo.

This looks like the kind of game I could spend hours playing, a mix of Motorstorm and Dirt.

However, tire friction seems off, the cars seem to start drifting easy enough (which indicates that the friction of the track is probably alright) but the car slides uncontrollably for a bit too long and goes slamming against walls even though the player is clearly accellerating in the turn and trying to parry the slide. This makes the player want to avoid the best part about rally games as much as possible - drifting

It looks like something that would come out last gen. In addition the "modes" are not really modes, but rather same mode with different car types.

I'm not impressed looks really boring. When I heard arcade racer I thought about big jumps and extreme speed. This looks like a bootleg of the dirt franchise and it doesn't even have the realism that makes games like dirt, forza, and gt appealing. Furthermore track design looks so boring with no real change throughout the entirety of the race. I've seen this game a million times and I've seen it done a lot better with a lot more style and substance. However maybe this is in alpha and the final product will be much better. Considering this is square enix which is known for making some great games with great levels of polish (although not naughty dog levels of polish) I will keep this game in mind to look into down the road when its closer to release. Also congrats square for trying something new but don't expand so much that you forget what makes your company so great, story based RPGs

@sakaixx: Square Enix is going to publish it. The game is made by Rome based Milestone (known for the WRC official games). Bad gamespot...

I ‘could’ have tried this at the NY comic con...but didn’t. I think Square though should stick with what they do well...great high fantasy/story games. I just wasn’t interested in their racing game at all. Who knows, maybe Gravel will have a high fantasy racing story featuring Cloud and Mickey Mouse complete with side fetch quests for exotic fuel potions, tire composition materials, and mana racing elementals... (I really like Square btw.)

Now- Secret of Mana - I will probably pay full retail for the game...even though their NYCC demo was extremely extremely extremely boring. I’m excited about that game and people who like modernized top down rpgs should also be excited. The charging mechanic seemed to be pretty cool. Just a shame the show demo didn’t have at least a mini boss fight

This looks like a less-polished version of Forza. I wonder if there was a demand for this? I currently don't really see what it does differently, but I will withhold judgment.
