Any list of awesome F2P games isn't a real list unless it includes, in addition to a couple mentioned in this video, Planetside2, Rift, Hawken, and Warframe.
I see a lot of people mentioning Warframe - and as a long time Warframe / POE player I'm going to tell you why I think it cannot be here as a F2P option. Comparing Warframe to something like POE, for example - in POE you can get through ALL of the content without virtually paying a cent. Is that possible with Warframe? Maybe - but you will be under a lot of pressure and will not meet "deadlines" as your account will be under the strain of lack of space, lack of Warframe choice, waiting for days on end for things to finish building, waiting and grinding forever for items that may never drop for you, keeping you stuck where you are unless you pony up some cash and get to trading.
In POE there IS the grind - but eventually you might get enough to finish the higher end levels. You have space issues, but unlike Warframe you don't need as much space and typically the space you have is enough if you know what your doing. A collector will have issues, though. You are more likely to find something that can get you into the trading game than in Warframe - as there are a massive amount of items to trade in POE and in Warframe only specific things - and the market fluctuations are ridiculous. Finally the nerfing in Warframe is aimed at forcing people to purchase, rather than actually balance the game; not to mention that there is a nerfing PATTERN - whereas POE nerfs based on careful analysis of game balance (okay I cannot give them that in the case of the Spectral Throw nerfs... the most fun attack system in the game... NERFED to hell... anyways...). So while technically Warframe is a F2P, it is a F2P with P (PAIN) and not a true to heart F2P. So I can see why it's not there - but that's my reason, not the author's.
TLDR: TF2, Hearthstone, DOTA2, SWTOR, Alien Swarm, Path of Exile
Also, where'd the enlarge button go for the player? It's there when it first loads up.. then it switches to a different player (which gets around adblockers too) that has nothing but a fullscreen button. Upscaling a 720p video to 2k or having it sit as a tiny square isn't a welcome experience. The 'enlarged' version should be default if it's not going to be changeable anymore.
Path of Exile the best Free to Play game out there. I play it solo only, and love it. Single player only gamers out there you will love this one.
Was watching video and thinking I will have to be asking "why didn't you mention the best free to play game that exists!" but then I got to the end of the video.
@lyhthegreat: Hey unlucky people on this page without an autolike. Your first one is on me. Just correcting what seems to be a glitch. Pay it forward if you see someone else whose comment doesn't have an autolike.

Why no Warframe? It's by far the best 3rd person shooter that's F2P, and the content is very accessible. Many players that come from Destiny say that they enjoy Warframe much more. You all post about Destiny multiple times a day... but don't bring up Warframe as a great F2P game? Or ever, for that matter. I don't get it.

Warframe has too limited slots for wf and other gear. that's the only problem I see.

Yeah... but the slots are 6 plat per weapon or 20 for a Warframe. If you get a 50% off daily reward (which comes up pretty often), that comes out to 15 cents per weapon and 48 cents per frame. Plus... you can get plat by trading mods, syndicate weapons, and prime parts... so you don't have to pay anything. It's a pretty good system, imo.
I really liked Tera, wonderful game, but like almost all free mmorpgs, lack of content at endgame killed it :( I reached level 60, geared my character really quickly and found I had basically nothing to do.
The combat and actual gameplay is amazing, grinding while boring ( like all mmo's ) is still a times fun. The action style combat is fluid and really gives you a sense of beating the crap out of something.
Graphics are clean, the landscape is gorgeous at times and the game has few bugs ( theres going to be a few of course) .. although I havent personally ran into any that kept me from playing.
The currency system is fairly balanced, and its completely free to play. There are of course costumes and mounts available for real money, but this does not hurt the economy or gameplay in any real noticeable ways.
Although I do not play anymore, I can say I had a blast in the time I spent on it.
TERA is garbage in comparison, I don't understand why people liked it. I could barely even get through the tutorial when it was in beta because of how terribly unpolished and generic KRPG it felt. Years later after going F2P I went back; it was still as unpolished and generic as ever. The floaty combat couldn't hold me when the rest of the game was nothing but a standard kRPG. Hell, I played Neverwinter a lot more in comparison, and even that is pretty poor compared to Vindictus.
Really? You talk about F2P games that are an exception to their bad reputation and then list fucking Hearthstone?? SWTOR has improved vastly but it's nearly a waste of time unless you cough up and subscribe or spend a lot as F2P ( exploitative monetization system ). Alien Swarm & POE definitely deserve props though.
Pokemon Rumble World is also a lot of fun. Although when you get towards the end of the game, you'll have to spend $3 of $4 to get enough diamonds to unlock the last few areas. Still not bad considering how fun the game is though.
@kpolicoff: Plus there's tons of special events, so there's always something to do. And its just plain fun to play. Flying through the air and bouncing off the walls, blasting enemies is always a blast.
You click, you move around, blow stuff up, find meaningless loot to satisfy your digital ego. The diablo style action rpg genre always seemed kind of bland to me. But alright, people talk about it often enough, so maybe Path of Exile is more fun than it looks. I guess I'll just give it a try. Hopefully it'll give me a new perspective on the genre.
The only people who say F2P "sucks" are those who have never tried games like Guild Wars 2, Path of Exile, Team Fortress 2, Wildstar....I honestly could go on and on. So many.
@MXVIII: nope. Guild Wars 2 is 100% free. With a few restrictions like character slot limits etc. The entire game and all its content however is 100% free and unrestricted. The expansion isn't free however.
@@Frozzik: I did not know this. Played first one, of course had to purchase, and when I first checked out GW2 you had to purchase it. So, good to know.
@Goron24: There are lots of great f2p games that just don't get as much recognition as others. Warframe is hardly the only exception to this list that's still well worth people's time.
A would recommend Nosgoth. It's a bit of a hidden gem. Free to play vampires vs humans like TF2 but melee vs ranged. vamps climb on buildings and jump down on the humans. It's really fun and has ESL tournies. Also, there is NO pay to win since everything is cosmetic or boosters for xp and gold. The gold and XP is fast and doesnt feel like a grind. Another awesome F2P game is Hawken too.
