<< LINK REMOVED >> I couldn't agree more. My wife and played the last two DKCs through in co-op, and it is a blast (although we are still working on the last boss of tropical freeze). It is also one of the most challenging games you will play through if you have two - just try using DK without Dixie in some of those extra levels haha.

Although I'm not a huge COD fan, spec ops in modern warfare 2. Or zombie mode on Black Ops 2 should of had a mention.

Did these new Gamespot staff get hired to replace the ones they let go (Tom, Carolyn et al)? If so, what's the point in laying people off if you're going to hire new people to replace them? Or if they fill other roles, why not repurpose your existing staff to do the new roles you need them for?

I'm sorry, but Mario 3D World is not a coop game, is a game in which you can play with more than 1 player, but is not Coop, and you can easily see that the "coop" doesnt work. First because it doesnt need more than 1 player to pass through any level, second because the game has no challenge builded for more than 1 player, the game dont becomes more difficult or harder, third because the camera is a mess and makes you think why you are playing with a stupid person that just makes you die because of the camera, and fourth because you enjoy more the game alone is better than playing with friends. You can easily see that the game was not builded for coop, they just allow more people to join. Doing a coop this way any game could be coop too. There's no extra work to adapt or make the game better for more people, there's no challenge for more than 1 player. That's a cheap coop.

What coop is? Coop is Portal and 2, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Magicka, Borderlands 1 and 2, Lara Croft games, the new Team Fortress coop mode... For me, the Mario 3d world coop is everything a coop shouldn't be: worse than playing alone.

And you, you can have fun playing with them, but being more critic to the experience, it's not a good coop.

@lucaslla: I've played that game a lot...by myself, with two people and with 4. Yes, it just ends up making the game harder with 4, but it is hilarious and I guarantee it will make you laugh

BL2 was a bad experience for coop, crappy loot lead to fighting over anything decent (the rare "oh thats good") which didn't take long to need to be replaced with the way they scaled the game. Hunting loot was kind of boring... well more repetitive, run and gun a NPC and restart till u get that Legendary loot. You would figure they would have an area you run through thats the equiv of like going through a dungeon, and maybe make a good loot system. Seems more rushed just so they could hit people with their DLC's.

D3, I can say that playing coop was fine, not like much else that has come out has been even decent. Everything else is kind of garbage. It's not popular with people i know, my sister loves it tho.

You invite your friends over to play with your console and you offer them oily snacks (chips)? What's wrong with you?

Ouch, Little Big Planet didn't make the cut? I thought for sure that would be on the list.

And Rockband might not be relevant anymore but it's still ridiculously fun.

Guardian Heroes was the last great beat-em-up I can remember. Streets of Rage 2 was a big one and is still fun, but I haven't played it in a while. Classic. Sega should have brought that back.

Crash Bash & Trine 1 & 2 would be my picks that weren't on the list, but Portal 2 is possibly best among the others.

Great thing about playing any game together, it can make even bad games entertaining.

Sheva gets my vote hands down for the worst companion of the decade in RE5. She steals ammo, sprays all your green herbs like they are cheap air freshners, and her fire rate makes you think she has downed a handful of Xanax before mission. I love her character just not the AI behind Ms. African Greedy Britches. It makes the game even a better co-op experience knowing that someone else is driving Sheva's car. It's sad when your companion fails at everything, even at packmule 101.

Zelda: Four Swords adventures is the best couch coop ever in my opinion. Even though it's a Zelda game so few people actually played it (or played it the way it was meant to be played anyways). That's because it required 4 gameboy advances, 4 gameboy to gamecube link cables to work, but when you have that it is amazing.

You each get your own screen on your controller because of this. So the overworld is on the TV and when you go inside to a store or a cave you go to your own little screen below. The best puzzles force you to go to different areas and communicate with each other what you see. Also you can each only carry one item along with your sword so puzzle solving takes on a group dynamic. Just plain incredible.

This is more like Mary's list of best couch co-op games of modern. Nice list, but not in great order for me. I also feel like you could bunch Gears of War together, just as you said pick any from the Halo Collection.

Gauntlet was a waste of cash. It felt short, lazy, and repetitive. This is coming from a Magicka fan who played older guantlet games.

LFD2 is a great co-op game, but is it really a couch co-op game? I thought it was fine playing online with voice chat.

Interesting list, but IMO Super Mario 3D Worlds should be way higher.
