Vanquish redefines it's genre and more.
+ Gameplay is the main key in the game, no surprise. But it is a surprise how well it functions and keeps fresh. In tough spots it gives you an adrenaline rush and locks your mind and thoughts only to be focused in the game
+ Graphics in the game are superb, and the look just beautiful mixed with the speed and "fluidness" of the game
+ Setting is one of the "minor" issues but is just amazing. The way how everything (reason to fight, how machines function etc.) is explained really satisfies and doesn't give you that "obvious sci-fi crap" -feeling, at all
+ Little details such as the possibility to set subtitles to lines, com messages, set the subtitles' languages, set the voice language and a bunch of other thing
+ Everything else (presentation, challenge, replay value etc.)
- Dialogue, mainly because of the amount of swearing
- English voice-acting just sucks
- Minor issues like some lipsync which aren't very important but are still annoying
Special praise: believe it or not, before playing Vanquish I hadn't played any other 3rd person shooters. The nearest game similar to Vanquish is probably Metroid Prime trilogy (still 1st person) but you get the point. So I wasn't very hopeful when the first time inserting the demo disc in my 360. But still from the first minute I loved it, the speed, the mechanics, everything.
In the end I really hope they would either release some DLCs for the game or make a sequel, preferably both. Vanquish did win a couple of GameSpot's awards (Best Game No One Played for ex.) of which I'm very happy; not only that a game I like won but for the benefit of the developer Platinum Games.
