So much potential!

When I first got this game I was rather excited, mainly because I am a big Vampire Hunter D fan. And although it is flawed I can see so much potential here for a good game! D is an awsome character with tons of abilities, a great back story, and his freaking hand talks trash. Not only is D awsome, but the series is full of interesting characters and monsters to draw inspiration from for a great game. What is there not to like... well other then THIS particular game :p

Anyhoo the game is your typical Resident Evil knock off *not to surprising around the time it came out, there were tons of them back then* This is both a good thing and a bad thing. Since it drew so much from RE I was expecting some hard ass puzzles but was sadly disappointed. The puzzles were way to easy. Also they tried to put in a few RE type scare moments *which never worked, mainly because D is such a stud and you never get that feeling of urgency* The camera was also a problem, it wasn't so bad in RE but in this game the camera transitions so frequently, it is hard to get your character in a good position to fight, open doors, push statues etc. The thing I did like in this game was its fight/magic system, when you learn to use it right that hand of yours kicks major butt and practically does away with health potions all together. The graphics in this game were not good... but they weren't the worst I've seen. The voice acting was good but the script itself was awful.

To sum things up, if you are a hard core VHD fan I say why not pick it up. Its good for an afternoon killer, there is nothing new here that you haven't seen, and the story is ripped strait from the 3rd book *and 2nd movie* This is no God of War, RE4, Halo, or anything that will change the industry *or we'd know by now XD* but like I said, for a VHD fan its a pleasant time killer. Personally I think this would have been a better action game than a puzzle/survival horror type, but oh well.
