Valkyria Chronicles is an innovative, well written, and beautiful strategy RPG.
Perhaps it's the anime fan in me or a thirst for a game that breathes new life into the gaming industry. Either way, Valkyria Chronicles is my favorite game. This game offers more to me than any other game I have ever played.
The storyline and characters are what stand out the most in this game. Few games offer so many interesting characters with this much depth and personality. And how many times can you say that a game had a satisfying romantic conclusion? Quite a bit of history and information is also provided alongside this. The story itself may not appeal to some gamers for its frequency between game play. It suits my tastes just fine and hopefully, it will suit your own.
The game play itself is rather unique. It lacks intensity and may prove unexciting for a lot of gamers. I find it a refreshing change however. It is both fun and challenging. Valkyria Chronicles mixes turn-based strategy with 3rd person shooter allowing you to both command and control your squadron. And what an endearing squadron they are!
Another aspect is one I rarely believe needs to be mentioned: graphics and music. If you've heard of this game, then you know that this game has some of the most beautiful graphics ever seen before. It uses anime-style graphics that blend 3-D with a textured palette that resembles a painting. As for the music, it never hits a dull note. The music features a wonderful orchestra.
If I had to address a complaint with this game, it would be that the load times are just too long. Mistakes can cost you on a mission and so saving is essential. So it is a pain to endure so many long loading sequences (though the flower on the bottom screen is pretty to look at.)
