One of those games where you didn't want the adventure to end

User Rating: 10 | Uncharted 4: A Thief's End PS4

Naughty Dog is no stranger in the gaming world especially in the past where games like The Last of Us, Jak & Daxter and Crash Bandicoot have been best-sellers over the past 20 years on the PlayStation. The Uncharted series are a classic and still hold up in today's standard in gaming especially on the PlayStation 3, Uncharted 4 is the fourth and final installment in the series on the PlayStation 4, when I think about Uncharted it was always about the adventures and some of the best moments can be found in the series either if its action scenes or chase scenes. The series feels more like you are watching a really good action-adventure movie having a mix of Indiana Jones and National Treasure put together.

Taking place three years after the events of Uncharted 3, where Nathan Drake reunites with his older brother Sam and begins hunting for Captain Henry Avery's long last treasure. What I loved about the story is where you would think Nathan Drake would be taking a break from all of the Treasure Hunting adventures he has had, but when Sam mentions to him about Captain Henry Avery's treasure you could tell that Nathan is up for one last adventure before throwing in the towel. As a fan of the series I clearly don't want to spoil the story for anyone who haven't played it yet.

When you first start up the game you are easily blown away on how well detailed Uncharted 4 looks especially on the PlayStation 4, it's like both Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us game engines were put together in making this game. There have been times where you can easily get lost in the middle of game and just explore around the area either finding treasure which is pretty much scatted throughout the game just like the past games have done. You could tell Naughty Dog really went in every detail when it came to settings, environments, landscapes and character animation.

The visuals just look impressive to look at especially the incredible voice acting once again Nolan North pulls off a stunning performance on voicing Nathan Drake and of course having Troy Baker voicing Sam is a good choice to have in an action-adventure game plus looking at the relationship of both Nathan and Sam brothers always tend to either fight or argue over something but when you see the strong bond between them it’s like they need each other to see through the end of their adventure and of course finding the treasure they have been after for so long. Plus it's also nice to hear Emily Rose and Richard McGonagle voicing both Elena and Sully it wouldn't be an Uncharted game without both of them in them.

Playing in a third-person perspective the controls feel the same using the same weapons as well such as your standard pistol gun your average shotgun. Most of the gameplay controls feel the same including combat while fighting enemies but you can also use stealth to take out your enemies quietly without anyone making a sound. If you've played the past Uncharted games the controls do feel the same so getting use to the controls are very straight forward but it also adds new features in the game like the grappling hook where you can swing your way across from one place to another.

And another feature is the dialogue tree where you'll be given choices but however though it does not affect the story's progression which is a good thing because you clearly don't want to make any mistakes through the story and you do want to know what will happen next. The solving puzzles sequence makes a return to the series where you'll have to solve a few puzzles where you'll be flipping back and forth through Drakes journal and hints will be pointed out if you are stuck on a puzzle or not sure where you need to go. You can now swim under water which is also another great way to avoid enemy gun shots is or you're in a tight spot during gun point.

Multiplayer has returned again where you can play online through various death matches and challenges and plus Co-op missions make a return as well. At the end of each match you'll gain Exp for levelling up, earn money to buy and upgrade weapons, and customisable gear for your character. Trying to collect all trophies will be a challenge for some and picking up treasure through various chapters, but its multiplayer is still addictive and very rewarding for its players and fans alike.

Clearing the game can take you up to 10-15 hours depending on what difficulty you plan to play it on, but there have been times where I was just stunned and shocked how well done Uncharted 4 looked, there were some moments during gameplay that made my jaw drop in surprisement also quickly trying to get across one place to another without getting killed in action or a building from collapsing. Half the time I clearly didn't want to put this game down or at least keep the adventure going, within the year cycle for the PlayStation 4 Uncharted 4 will be one of those games that will stand out and showing an example on how an action-adventure games should be made. But also it's one of those games that many people will come back to for the many years to come.
