Uncharted 3's single-player isn't as amazing as Uncharted 2, but the multiplayer, much improved, makes it the best one.

User Rating: 9 | Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception PS3
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception does something that a lot of games that have a single player and a multiplayer component just cannot seem to do: have a good single player and multiplayer. Shocking, I know; a game with multiplayer not having a single player mode that ranges from bad to mediocre. Anyone from moderate fans of shooters to avid Uncharted fans should love Uncharted 3.

Game play: 8. Uncharted 3 is a third-person shooter; much like Gears of War. Of course, it is not just a cover-based shooter. It is also a platformer in many respects. There are also puzzles (and sometimes tough ones too). The multiplayer isn't anything you would not expect it to be. That's really the gist of it as far as the basic game play goes.
The platforming is pretty good. The shooting is not as good as Uncharted 2; it feels a little clunky, but it is still okay. It's just not as smooth. The puzzles are well done. I wish the campaign contained less cinematic parts to it when the game play was phased out for an interactive cut-scenes. All in all though, the campaign was pretty good.
The multiplayer has more stages and more modes than Uncharted 2's. The stage design is better as well. I think the melee moves could have been better. Sometimes I noticed they didn't work quite right. Also, being able to kill someone in one shot with a ledge grab didn't make a lot of sense sometimes. There have been times where I would be ledge killed by someone who was hanging on a ledge where the ground was like a yard below them; not very logical. Aside from that though, the multiplayer is very good, and this is coming from someone who often does enjoy online multiplayer.

Presentation: 9. Uncharted 3 has some of the best graphics you will see on the PlayStation 3. Whether you're in London, South America, an ancient city, or in the middle of the desert, Uncharted 3 is an amazing looking game.
The soundtrack and sound effects are pretty good.
The story is not quite as good as Uncharted 2, but it's still good nonetheless.

Value, 10. The campaign should take you from 8 to 10 hours, which isn't all that great. I guess you could replay it on an even harder difficulty and try to find all the items though. The multiplayer is where this game's true value is at. There are a lot of different modes, and a lot of different stages, so you should be playing this game for a long time.

PROS
Good single player
Good multiplayer
Gorgeous looking
Solid story
CONS
Campaign is short
In the multiplayer, the melee mechanics sometimes do not work properly
In the multiplayer, ledge grabs killing in one shot sometimes does not make sense, and thus at times leads to cheap deaths
Single player is too cinematic sometimes
Shooting mechanics are not as smooth as Uncharted 2's

Uncharted 3 caps off the trilogy in a way that I wish all would do: being the best installment in its series. If you're a fan of shooters, then Uncharted 3 should definitely make you happy. People who like platforming more than shooters should be careful about buying this game as they will probably not see much value in the multiplayer and will be left desiring more from the campaign.
