Unchained Blades was one of the JRPGs I picked up slightly on random while waiting for more VITA games to be released. My first 2-hours of playing left me feeling "I can't remember the last time I need to level-grind so much." I don't like grinding (nobody does!), but fortunately I had just enough endurance to complete the first 3 chapters. The subsequent chapters up to the end were a relief -- I could finally focus more on what the game has to offer, such as the sidequests, synthesis and unchaining more powerful monsters rather than solely trying to survive the battles.

A pretty standard turn-based JRPG with a spotlight on dungeon-exploring. Leveling your characters is done in FFX's sphere-grid style. Unchaining a monster (recruiting them into your party, with each character capable of having 4 monsters, pr 'followers') is a mixed experience for me -- I like how different followers with different elements and Anima (a mini element that enables some of your more powerful character skills) allow me to experiment on what skills my characters can have, but at the same time the followers are practically useless in battles: they don't always attack, even when they do, they are likely to hit
