Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, building on its predecessor, MK3, is a new sort of "upgrade" for the MK series. UMK3 has much more characters, and it actually includes Scorpion! (MK3 did not). On the fighting style mechanisms, nothing has changed from MK3, so if you're worrying about gameplay changes don't because there are none. The fatality system is incredible, with each character having two fatalities, an animality, a babality, and a friendship. Figuring all of these out is sure to keep any MK fan interested, and the vast selection of characters provides nearly limitless possibilities for ways to brutaly finish your opponent. So if you are shopping for a classic fighting game, bypass the others and head straight for UMK3, because it is the best one around.
